Sydney's Story
Life
My life....hmmmm, a complicated history! Married David in 1960, had Ralph 1/61, graduated in 1961. Lived in Tucson until 1967 where Heather (6/65) and Holly (7/67) were born. Moved to Philly for one year, then to Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico for one year. Kathleen (6/69) was born there. Then back to Tucson until 6/71. To Colombia, South America (Bogota, then Cali), and on to NC summer 76. I've been here in Raleigh since then, and plan NEVER to move again! Received a certificate in Radiologic Technology in 1979, one in Radiation Therapy Technology in 1980. Worked as therapy tech until 1989. Separated in 1982, divorced 1984, resumed my maiden name 1986--and will never change it again! Married Bill 2/14/92. He has no kids but considers mine his. Earned a BS from NC State in 1992, M.Ed. in Counseling 1998. Have volunteered in all positions at a domestic violence/rape center; worked National AIDS ...Expand for more
Hotline and National STD and AIDS Hotline. Worked as counselor in a private prison that was also a drug/alcohol treatment center. Four great kids--Holly lives here in NC, as do my 3 grandkids. Ralph's daughter, Jessie, is 18; Holly and Stephen's kids are Byron (12) and Belén (6). Ralph is now in Helena, MT with his fiancee, Barbara. Heather and her partner Sabrina are in Seattle with two grandpuppies, Rory and Gus. Kathleen and Drew are in Columbus, OH, with Jackie & Daisy (granddogs) and Bella (grandkitty). Bill and I have two cats at this time, Snowy and Chewy, sister and brother.
Bill had a near-fatal one-car accident 6/08. He lost his right leg above the knee, had 3rd degree burns on the left. He has a prosthesis, and is doing well, but our lives changed drastically that day. We learned what wonderful friends and family we have. Their support continues, thank goodness! We are very fortunate.
