Sylvia's Story
I am an organic farmer/gardener and have operated an adolescent home for teenage girls for the past 12 years.I live in the country on a 200 acre farm.I've been here for 36 years.Previous to that I was an owner operator of a tourist resort.I do workshops on canning 'preserving and drying foods also twig furniture and a variety of other skills. I like to play my guitar and sing.I've been involved in local theatre ,I'm on the board of a community radiostation and an active member of the LIONS.
My first job was at bell telephone, where I got paid who knows to answer the swichboard. What I remember most about it is I did not want to be a gold watch winner. I couldn't bear to work at the same job for...Expand for more
the rest of my life.I think what would surprise all of us at our school reunion is that we are now OLD. One thing I don't remember wanting to be when I grew up was wrinkled!!I'm not really sure I would do things radically different if I got to do it again except stay in touch with everyone.No trophies on my mantle but I learned to milk a cow and make butter,cheese,yogurt etc. I did all of this as a single mother and that's a victory for me.
In 10 years, I hope to be where I am now. I'm going to get there by staying alive.
