Sylvia's Story
I wasn¿t too successful at Moody High; I dropped out in the 11th grade. I moved to Brownsville TX, where I had my daughter at the age of 20 and received my GED shortly after. Myself, my significant other and my daughter moved back to Corpus Christi when my daughter turned 1, I just couldn¿t see myself raising her there. I worked at the Corpus Christi State School from 1996- 2000. In 1999 I had a son that was born with some physical disabilities. In 2000 I decided to be a stay at home mom (oh and my significant other is from Brownsville). After being out of work for a couple of months, my significant others boss asked me if I could help out a little in the office. I started to work for JFK house moving company in late 2000. Some how I ended up helping run the whole company. My boss would leave for months at a time and I would have to hold up the fort. And ye...Expand for more
s I ended up being my significant others boss. I found that I really enjoyed being the boss of 20+ employees and being a business woman. After working for JFK house moving for 5 years and getting separated from my children¿s father, I decide to get an education. I decided to start taking some real estate courses and Business courses Spring 06. I felt that was in over my head since I didn¿t do to well at Moody. I loved taking course at Del-Mar college; I actually did well in all my courses. I currently have 76 Business hours with a 3.0 GPA and I will be transferring to Texas A & M in the spring to go for my Bachelors in Business. Who would have ever thought, NOT ME! In between 06 and late 08, I met a wonderful man, bought a house and have been great. My goal is to eventually open up a chain of day centers and own property. You never know the sky is the limit!
