Sylvia Jean's Story
Life
Since graduating from W.R. Odell, I've attended college and graduate school, both at East Carolina University. I received a B.S. in English in 1969, and finished my course work for the M.A. in '71. After that, I've been unable to decide what I want to be when I grow up. :> I've been a substitute high school teacher, worked in an insurance office, worked at Belk's, been a credit collector (a miserable job!), was an employment counselor (another miserable job!), and worked for 12 years in the hotel industry as a night auditor. When I decided that I could no longer stand 3rd shift, I switched to working for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, in the Department of Housing and Residence Life in 1980, where I've been ever since.
I've traveled in the US, in Europe and the UK, in Canada, in Australia, and intend to do more of the same - I do LOVE to travel and see new places.

eding and showing Manx cats (the ones without the tails). I've had several Grand Champions, and hope to have more (I have some likely prospects at home right now). My cats have gone to live in NYC, Vancouver, Seattle, Kansas City, to name just a few places. Some of my cats can be seen at my cattery web site

I also write fantasy and science fiction. I have a couple of stories out for consideration at present, and hope I can sell my "sword and sorcery" novel eventually. I've attended several sci-fi/fantasy conventions recently, and really have a great time at the cons.
I create and sell one-of-a-kind jewelry, some of which can be seen at my other web site http://homestead.juno.com/romanxx/Jewelry.html
Hope to hear from other classmates in the future - what are y'all doing?
I learned to work in stained glass several years ago, and though I haven't done much recently, I have pieces that I designed and made.
