Tad's Story
Life
After serving in the US Army during the first Gulf Conflict (PGW, ODS) I returned stateside, taught at the Armor school for a short while before my '92 ETS. I attended NCSU majoring in Biology, Minor in Genetics.
Got married in '96. Had several good years... though we divorced after 8yrs. I was working up the ranks at a leading medical software company, then 9/11. Amid Corporate restructuring/downsizing I elected to go back to school.
I was awarded an internship with the Bureau of Land Management out in Montana mapping the Upper Missouri Breaks Natl Monument. Spent the next 10 weeks, 16-18hr work days, in some of the most incredible country and bizarre weather.
On return, I worked as a credit card collector and skip tracer for three years. Realizing I was missing something in my life, (ie, not using my degree and really missing the outdoors!) I took a job with Asplundh. After several years, I've changed rolls and now work for Arbormetrics Solutions, a division of Asplundh, as a Utility Arborist. This line of work has taken me far and wide across the country.

College
I have recently graduated from NCSU (Dec 07). Now its off to Grad school. More to follow...
Military
Served in the Army stationed in Bamberg, Germany. Loved it... so much, I almost emmigrated there.
I was deployed into the Gulf War in 90, and saw plenty of action as part of the 3BDE, 1st AD as a Cav scout. After my deployment, our unit disbanded, and I was reassigned to Ft Knox Armor school.
I ETS'd in 92 and joined the NCNG out of Statesville. I fulfilled my 8yr commitment, and then chose not to reup as I was trying to finish my civilian education at NCSU. The military kept taking weird turns that I was not entirely into. I started as a recon spec, but then was reassigned as a TOW missile gunner, then artillery.
I'd considered accepting a commission and then enrolling in the language school in Calif as a voice language interceptor... but it just wasn't really where I wanted to be, so. Here we are! I've been out of the military for 10 almost 11 yrs now, and am VERY glad to have served my country.
