Tadashi's Story
I am Tadashi Gushi Lometo from the Marshall Islands. I was an American Field services (AFS) foreign exchange student from the Trust T erritory of the Pacific Islands to the United States in school year 1971-1972. I attended Brookield High school, Brookfield, Connecticut, and graduated in 1972. When I was at Brookfield High, I stayed with William B. Smith of South Mountain Road. The Smiths had two sons,Charles and Greg smith. They both attended Brookfield High. After graduation, I went back home. Then I went to Guam, a United States territory in the Northern Mariana Islands, to be a student at the University of Guam. I then transferred to University of Central Oklahoma, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1979. I did my graduate studies...Expand for more
in Public Health at University of Hawaii and completed that in 1986. I went back home afterwads, and ran for the congress. I was elected senator for three terms of four years each. In congress, I was appointed chairman of several standing committees. I was appointed by the president of the Marshall Islands as the Cabinet Minister of Health Services and Minister in Assistance to the President, second highest position in the government.
