Tamara's Story
Life
Moved from Englewood,Colorado to Missoula, Montana in 1956. Graduated Missoula Co. High School 1959. Graduated from St. Patrick School of Nursing 1963. Married 1963. Lived in Illinois and Iowa for 5 years. Moved to Idaho 1968. 2 children born in 1969 and 1972. Divorced 1978. Worked in Emergency Room, physicians office, public health and schoool nursing since 1977. Completed bachelor degree St. Joseph College 1989. One son lives in Boise, teaches high school. One son married, lives in Seattle is a Safety and Risk Manager for Franz Bakery. Life is great. I retired in June 2006 and spent a week in Iowa with my brother and Mother to visit her home area, then 3 weeks in October in England, short visits to Sacramento area and Seattle. Doing some remodel work on my home for the summer.

Workplace
I am a registered nurse. I have worked in many areas of nursing---in hospital, physician office, county health department, adolescent psychiatry, but have worked the longest as a school nurse----30 years and am now retired. I was fortunate to be able to start this program in the school district. We started with 4 registered nurses serving in 13 schools and with the fall of 2009 there are 48 schools and 44 registered nurses serving those schools. The school district is now the largest in the state and we have the largest number of full time nurses. It has been a rewarding and exciting job---taking in all aspects of nursing. I loved every day.
Winter of 2007-08, I returned to downhill skiing after an absence of 10 years. Very humiliating at first, but after a refresher lesson, it was a very fun winter. I'll return to my 3rd year of downhill skiing with new short parabolic skies that made skiing so much easier at the end of last season. Great way to spend a winter.
