Tami's Story
Life
Hello Friends from Home:
I left Grandview in 1986 and headed to college in Brownwood. I graduated from Howard Payne University in 1990 with a B.S. in History and Political Science - I wanted to be a lawyer when I grew up. After working for a law firm in downtown Ft. Worth the year after graduation, I realized that the field of law was not for me...too much corruption, judges are easily bought with extravagent trips, and the politics of the office were repulsive. I never really found a career that I enjoyed, so I went to work for the state after trying a few other jobs. While living in Waco, I met a man from south Texas - Cuero (pronounced Qu-air-o; though only 1 syllable). We were married 8 months later.
Brett and I married in 1993 and have 2 sons. Tanner was born in 1997 and Hunter in 2000. We live about 10 miles from my in-laws and 5 hours from Grandview. Brett works for Invista (formerly DuPont) and counts the days to retirement (currently 27 years).
Again, after not really finding my niche in the career world, I decided to get my certification to teach. I am currently a 4th grade teacher at Mission Valley Elementary in the Victoria Independent School District. Hunter attends school where I teach...it is a LOT li...Expand for more
ke Grandview was when we were kids. However, Brett and I were faced with an extremely tough decision as far as the future education of our boys. We have decided to send them to Goliad I.S.D. for middle and high school. Tanner starts 6th grade there in the fall. For you Texas history buffs, that is the same Goliad where several battles of the Texas Revolution were fought. I have truely been blessed to live in this part of Texas - I was a history major and ALWAYS loved the subject (even in high school). Now I live within 2 hours of all the major battles fought in the quest for Texas independence. I also teach Texas History to my 4th graders (what a life!).
Now as life moves forward, we too are moving. We put our home on the market at the end of June and await the approaching closing date for our new home in Goliad County. Hopefully, we will sell the current one before closing on the new one.
I hope that I hear from many of you, as I have been out of touch for too many years. Much has changed in my life, all for the better. Take a look at our family pictures. I am so proud of the men in my life. I look forward to sharing my biography with you and also learning about your lives as well.
Take care,
Tami Matthews Troell
