Tammy's Story

Life My Spouse That's kind of a funny story! I was sitting in Spanish Class in 1986 with Mr. Swisher teaching and was assigned to be partners with Nathan. He conveniently forgot my book every day for the next year in Spanish and met Nathan Turner. We went out as friends a few times as friends but I wasn't interested. I was in a relationship. It wasn't until I was out of school that I noticed him in my Rolodex and called him. He had moved to Florida. I called him up and we had a long distance friendship that blossomed into a love affair. We dated for a year long distance and then he asked me to marry him. I moved to Florida to be closer to him and get to know him in person. After a year of being there, we both moved back to Colorado. At that time the economy of Colorado was bad. Nathan couldn't find a job and so he left for the Bahamas to work on a government site on Andros Island doing missile testing! That did the trick. He moved back 1 1/2 years after that and I said marry me now or lose me forever. We were married 6 months later! My Pets When we were in Florida the neighbors in the next building had a get-together. When I got there everyone was stoned and blowing smoke up a kittens nose. I took that kitten, put ten bucks on the table with a note and kept him. His name is Pooter. Pooter recently died. He was 23. Then came Macy Mae the dog. I was railroaded into going to the Puppy Rescue and of course, I couldn't resist. She's a Border Collie mix. In 2013 she is 13 Then came the fish. Her name is Velvet Sun Sun lovingly named by our daughter. Update...Velvet has since died! 2008 We recently added two little guys. We have two Sugar Gliders. Clea and Skye are now our new babies. 2013 Argos the Black Lab puppy has been added to the brood. Argos is energetic and a bit nuts! 2013 Macy Mae died. 2015 Izzy is our new addition and she is deaf and beautiful! My Kids Nathan and I are blessed to have our daughter Avrial. We call her Avy! We were told we would never have children. She is our gift wrapped up in a little package. I gave birth to her 4 days before our 10-year reunion! I had only been out of the hospital two days before the first night out. She's a little spitfire. I like that. When I was pregnant with her someone said to pray for what you want in your child. I felt selfish doing this but I did it anyway. The prayer was simple. I want a good kid with a little zip and she's all that! UPDATE She is now 21 years old in 2018 and is getting married in July 2019!! We had another blessing in our lives. Rennick (Mac) was born July 2002. He is a great little guy! He is happy go lucky and fun with a ton of energy! Boys are definitely different!!!! Our children are as different as night and day! We have added four exchange students to the mix. Chloe, Stella, Lucy, and Samuel. My Job 1997-2005I am a Domestic Goddess....mostly!! Just kidding. I stay home with our children! I love it! I can't imagine doing anything different! 2005 Recently, I started a venture with my family doing a family business called EDCOR doing ACLS, BLS, Medication Courses...etc. 2013 I am now a part owner of our little family business that I helped within 2006. We are growing and growing! 2016 Partner in family business National Training Center Coordinator for EdCor Education for American Heart Association Education. g all over the world. We take the children with us. This last summer we went to Germany, Estonia, Finland, Croatia, Bosnia, Brussels, and France. We plan to go to Eastern Europe and into Russia in 2008. In 2008 we did visit Russia. We started in Finland, took a train through Russia. We did, however, stay in St. Petersburg for 3 days and Moscow for another 3 days. We then took the train to Kiev, Ukraine and saw my cousin there. We stayed with him and his family for a week while we toured all over Ukraine. After that, we went to Hungary, then on to Croatia (by far our favorite) then to Greece, Italy, France, and Brussels. It was an amazing but busy trip. This year we plan to go back over to Croatia and go house looking. Yes, we love it that much. We will also go to Denmark, France, and Brussels. Europe sometimes feels like a second home because of our dear friends and family there. School I went to several different schools growing up. I went to Mile High Baptist the longest. (from Preschool through 8th grade) Then Westland Christian Academy (9th -10th) and then to Bear Creek High School. (11th - 12th) I went to college at Colorado Christian College in Lakewood, CO for only one year. It wasn't until recently that I decided to go back to school. Now that our children are getting older I want to pursue my passion! I always wanted to be a singer on Broadway but that wasn't going to happen so after theater and music my second passion was in the labor/delivery field. I am currently studying to be a doula. I am going through the DONA program. A doula is a labor and delivery coach that encourages a non medicated delivery. I also would like to take it a step further and go into lactation consulting as well as aftercare. Update - Finished my certificate for lactation consulting. Workplace I have worked in several different fields. I generally have worked in finance/debt consolidation/investing in the stock market..etc. At Commercial Federal I was able to expand my horizons. I had originally started there in their company affiliate INVEST Financial. I did everything from Administrative Assistant to actually working as the Financial Specialist after completing the Series 7, 6, and 63 tests. I hope that I never have to repeat those tests. After doing that for a while I decided that I wanted to find out all aspects of banking. I started on the teller line and worked my way up to doing mortgages/loans and then added in my specialty with investing. In August of 1996, my grandparents fell ill. They needed a place where someone could take care of them full time. I quit work then in November of 1996 and stayed home with them and took care of them (I found out I was pregnant with Avrial 15 days before they moved in) until they passed away 2 years later. After they died I went back to work part-time but I had a child at home and didn't want to part with her. I only worked 2 days a week at our church just to get some adult time. I am currently going to school to become a Doula and lactation consultant. I hope to do PP care in homes when our children are older. Now I am at home full time and love it! I feel very very blessed that Nathan has made it possible for me to raise our children at home! I was at home for 12 years and just recently went back to work. I work with our family business in teaching in the health care field. (Edcor) I really enjoy what I do!
