Tammy's Story

Life My Spouse: Gene and I met in 1999. We met online in a chat room of a mutual friend. I was in Iowa at the time, and he was in GA. I came here, and (7/11) and we married December 16th, 1999. I was married before, it was a mistake, but, it made me part of who I am today. I have taken chances in my life, and risks. My family never thought I would do some of them. I knew if I didn't, I never would. My Job: I work at our library here in Hartwell. I have had many jobs, and been to several states. I have worked in customer service and been a secretary. I work alot with computers, and I help people find books, and information in our library. I like helping people, and working with others. Our community here just celebrated their 150th year in 2003. This is a neat part of the country. Lake Hartwell is a power-producing lake, (like Canyon Lake) and it is HUGE compared to Canyon Lake. We are 2 hours north from Atlanta, and very close to Anderson, SC (like Canyon Lake is from San Antonio). We have a wonderful reunion and holiday planned with my family, on a cruise this December, just hoping there will be some islands to see, :) by the time we go. School Well, I bet there are not too many people who remember me from school. I was pretty quiet, tried not to get noticed, and never had too many friends. I was one of the ones others would pick on mercilessly, and throw gum, spit balls in my hair in school, and on the bus. I was born very premature, and my twin sister died after we were born, so, due to complications from our birth, I was born with Cerebral Palsy. It was slight compared to other forms. I had motor skill difficulty, and stuff like that, although by the time I was in junior hig, I no longer had resource classes, or my half leg brace. I hated PE in school, and anything to do with sports. My sister Teresa is one of my best supporters. If you remember me, I hope it is with kinder eyes now. Workplace I have worked at several jobs, a Dude Ranch as a maid, a waitress, a bakery deli employee, a office manager, a Cashier at Lowe's in the Garden Center (the plants gave me p...Expand for more
oison ivy one time, YIKES!), and Italian Restaurant near Canyon Lake, T Bar M Tennis Ranch as a waitress, I worked at Bandera Downs Racetrack at the admissions booth. I worked for my parents with their paper, "The Hill Country Trader". I babysat, alot, I was a nanny, I worked at a day care center for children, I worked in a nursing home, as an nurse's aid, a volunteer, and I worked in the laundry. Now, I work at Hart County Library. ( as of November 2006) UPDATE: Our Library had a mold issue, and had to be remediated. Eventually we got back into it, but, I was not there for that. In March or April, 2006, Gene's 91 year old grandmother died, she had cancer for the 3rd time. Also, Gene got into a small accident, and we had to pay a nice insurance deductable, but, the insurance company paid about 2,000 for the collision repair. also, that month, we got pregnant. Being as I am over 30, and have not had a regular period since 200, or 2001, ( had a Gall Bladder removal ), I was not too concerned, until my chest started to swell later, months later. I was sick all of the time, and throwing up, but, since I was working in a building full of mold, I was not too worried. We had went on our family cruise/reunion with my family, my hubby, and Teresa's Hubby in December 2005. ( I mentioned it earlier ) Anyway, we found out with a home test when I was about 4 months along, got a dr. check up almost 1 month later with my ob/gyn, and had Christopher William Frederick Sokol Dec. 10, 2006. Tried natural child birth, he would not progress, so, had C section, I would take 2 of those at one time compared to a gall bladder removal anyday. Mom was diagnosed with cancer, Stage 4 Pancreatic in August 2007, and she died on December 11, 2007. The day after my son was 1 year old. We miss her greatly. Teresa and her husband have moved recently, and live near New Braunfels. Eddie and Melissa live in Eddie's house in New Braunfels, and dad still lives at Canyon Lake. I work from home now, I left the Library in November 2006, and had Chris a month later. I have been a SAHM and a WAHM since. I write articles and stuff for an online company.
