Tammy's Story
Life - such a long time since playing foosball at Function Junction or Jerry's Billiards, hanging at "the pit" and partin' at Rose Moyer. The little black VW I bought at the end of Fresham year, haulin' kegs into Vance Park, to Dittlers or Sand For Sale. Doin' time at Red Corral & DQ at 174 & Division. Who all worked the Haunted House on 82nd south of Flavel - now that was a FUN job!
The neighborhood 158/Mill (Bully Dan Ryan's sis/pool in backyard) easy life of kids, playing at Candy Cane Park, Berry picking bus during summer, roller skating at The Gresham rink on Powell, then Skateworld, or sitting on the fence watching movies free at Division street Drive-In...the good old days in some ways.
Education - After dropping at Centennial, I took some classes at Gresham High, got my GED in 78 and called it good. Took some MHCC classes after my sons were born. involved in student council. Then PCC before and while I was working at the Cascade campus 99-04, PTK officer.
Work - I spent 14 years dispatching keeping our city on the west coast safe, 911 Crash-Fire rescue at PDX for the Port, AFSCME 1847. AFL-CIO conventions! Then 3 years at the Boys & Girls Club in Sellwood working in the teen program, plus other part-time fun stuff ...Expand for more
like selling jewelry for Wards & Meier n Frank, and working at Oaks Park - just for the free skating and great people. I spent 4 years at Portland Community College in Advising & Counseling at Cascade campus, office manager and general trouble maker as usual. I've been working at a SE landmark since May 2006 but I am always looking for my next adventure..
I keep my heart healthy with yoga and roller skating. If I bounced better I'd join a roller derby team. I really enjoy working with teens and helping people in general. Good at next steps for finding a better path, better life choices to become productive citizens.
April 2009 :) My sons are grown men now - 28 & almost 30, add 4 grandkids and there is no problem setting up some 3 on 3 basketball games - except my youngest lives in Japan teaching english. I spent 5 weeks there in 2005 and it was true culture shock. I'm living in parkrose in a small place I call home...gardening, baking, surfin' face or space, yahtzee, pinochle whatever. Hunting flea markets, garage sales, thrift stores and blah, blah, blah !! Road trips to concerts, random festivals, motorcycle rides up the gorge. Need to get out - lets go, catch up , shop, sip coffee, people watch! Que Sera. Hasta luego !
