Tammy's Story

Life Wow, so much has happened. I obviously graduated from Eastwood High School in 1985, going on to El Paso Community College for a few years. I then began working in 1989 at a nursing home, where I met my future husband. We were married in 1991, moving to Houston, Texas. In March 1992, I began working at NASA Johnson Space Center as the Assistant Contract Administrator. Our contract handled all of the Astronaut physicals, training, etc. We also performed physicals on all Flight Controllers, Air Force Flying Class III's, FAA's, etc. This was a fantastic time in my life. I received the Space Flight Awareness Award in 1993. I had the opportunity to witness a live launch and have a tour in Florida. I also witnessed the "making" of the movie Armegeddon. I met with Bruce Willis. Nice guy! As a part of our contract with NASA, we have the Human Test Support Group, where there is a pool the size of a football field. This is where the Astronauts are trained by our guys. I also was there for the filming of Apollo 13. Eugene Kranz, who was the Flight Director at that time, is a very good friend of mine. I was also a part of negotiating contracts as well as being the "can do" for NASA Civil Servants. Being close to the astronauts was a major plus. They are such wonderful individuals. This was an important time in my life. I worked hard with many long hours, even pulling all-nighters. It was honestl...Expand for more
y the best 10 years of my life. In 1994, my husband purchased his first Harley-Davidson so we became avid riders at that time. What a rush! In September 2000, my husband and I were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, named Emily. At that time, I was still working for NASA but it became difficult having to put Emily in a daycare. In October 2000, my husband purchased another Harley-Davidson. This was more of a touring bike. Much more comfortable for me, needless to say! In April 2002, we moved from Houston, Texas to Weatherford, Texas. My husband received a promotion within a different government agency. He is a Real Estate Appraiser. We also made the decision for me to stay at home with Emily, which has been the best! I have enjoyed it so much. I feel like I missed out on some things while I was working. Now, I am a "domestic goddess" as my hubby puts it. I truly wouldn't have it any other way. We built a new home here in Weatherford. My husband works in Fort Worth, Texas. Emily is in preschool and will be attending Pre-K in September 2005. Once she is in Kindergarten, I plan on going back to work. I plan on either getting my Real Estate License or working for the School District. I still feel the need to be around for Emily when she is out for the summer, but still have something for me. Well, that's it for now. There's more to tell, but I've run out of room!!!!
