Tana's Story
Life
I was born in Missoula, Montana in 1941, during WW II. My Dad went in the Navy in 1943, and we were moved to Curtis Bay, MD. outside of Baltimore. When he got out of the Navy, he went to NYC and found a job. We moved to Hollis Queens in 1946. I attended Eastwood Public school 95 and then Jamaica High, where I graduated in 1958.
After high school I got a job working for the Book of The Month club for 1 1/2 years. I was married in 1960 to Harold Redfield, and moved to Ft. Geo. Mead, area and lived in Herald Harbor, Maryland for a year then moved back to NY.
We left the NYC area in 1976 and headed west with 3 kids 2 boys and a girl, 2 dogs and 2 cars on vacation. We visited Joplin Missouri, Albuquerque New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Arizona, Utah, Coeur d'Alene Idaho and Wenatchee, Washington and decided to stay...Expand for more
here since July 1977. In Jan. 1978 I got a job working for the Automobile Club of Washington (AAA) as an Auto Travel Counselor until Aug of 2003. It was a fun job helping people with their vacation plans. With this job I had several opportunities to travel BC and Alberta Canada, southern and central California, and Arizona. I was a Canadian and US travel specialist. Since retirement we have traveled the southwest, California, Arizona and Texas plus an auto trip across the US for 6 weeks.
We now have 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. We will celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary in February. We have retired from our jobs and do music with some of our friends for various assisted living establishments and nursing homes. We are now looking to move to a warmer climate to spend the rest of our retired life.
