Tanya's Story

Life Hmmm...I just had surgery to remove my thyroid. I had thyroid cancer. All is well. I live in Panama City beach, FL. I own my first home now, 3bd/2 ba. I have 3 dogs-a beagle and 2 boxers. I am married to another Coast Guard member. I have decided recently to finish my 20 yrs and retire from the Coast Guard. I am currently going back to school and working on 2 other Bachelors that don't have much to do with each other. They are accounting and criminal law. Can't pass up free education. I plan to get a masters in Forensic Accounting and to take the CPA exam in florida. I got my first motorcycle back in May '05. It is a Yamha V-Star 650. We also got a jeep that we plan to lift and set up for 4 wheeling. Once I am through with whatever I need to do for my thyroid issues, possible radioactive iodine treatment (1 dose), my husband and I plan to start having children. So that is what is going on for now. School No, I would not do high school over again, but i would go back and do college again. I had a lot of good times in high school. I loved playing sports and hanging out with my friends. My craziest memories seem to include whenever I was driving with my friends. I was ruthless as a teen. I think we gave an old lady a heart attack. College I had a great time in college. I loved all the sorority jokes and midnight screams. My roommate and I lit some fireworks from our dorm room window (we had no screens) my freshmen yr. The funny thing was when they fell off the ledge and into the shrubbery down below. We were pretty freaked out that we just started a fire and living...Expand for more
in Malibu a fire is not a funny thing. I taught my roommate how to set off the smoke alarm too. For some odd reason she wanted to see if she could make it go off, amatuer. Later that summer while training as an SA for the dorms I found out that setting them off can be a $1000 fine. Hmm...everything seems to revolve around fire...the best was when we toilet papered our suite mates room...my roommate put toilet paper pver the torch lamp and it started to burn...and of course the girls whose room we were in was locked out and listening on the other side when i said "do you smell something burning, oh $%#^!" I think we gave her a heart attack considering she almost broke down the door to get inside. The things you do as a silly freshmen. I have a million stories, but I don't think I should be telling them on here. The funny thing in college was all the little crushes I had. Bill, the senior I worked with in the Library my Freshmen yr, George, who I didn't have a crush on at first, but after seeing how sweet he was things changed, and then Yak, who should have kissed me in the Dark room. Bunt in the end I am glad to be married to my husband now. Military I went from Bootcamp at Cape may, NJ. That was the first time I flew. Crazy for being raised a military brat. Then I was stationed in San Diego, Ca. I loved it there. From there I went to Yorktown, Va for a couple of months of training and then was stationed in New Orleans, La. I'm tired of Mardi gras and tourists now. But now I am at Pnama City Beach, FL. Love the beach and toewn, but now I get year round tourists. Oh well.
