Tara's Story

Life The best part of my life is my kids. I am so glad that I have them, and they are joys to me. I was a home health aide, but at this time I am I am working at Vernon Manor Childrens Home. In the fall, I plan to take more college courses and get my degree. It seems that I can't get a CNA job even with the Home Health Aide Cert. that I have. I would really love getting back into Home Health Aide work but with the price of gas really can't afford it as the money that you get back on gas is like the last time that I worked 45 cents for every mile. I loved the patients though and still keep in touch with some of them, especially the one that almost had to "deliver" my youngest as she puts it. We laugh about it. Being in the health field is very rewarding. Presently I am divorced, and I have three children-Heather, Sean, and Hannah. I LOVE BEING THEIR MOMMY. My oldest will be 20 years old this summer; my son is 17 and will be in 10th grade; and my youngest, who is going to be 15, and will start 9th grade this year.....I can't believe that I went into work and ended up at the hospital that day having our youngest.....I originally had 8 patients...but ended up with only 4....LOL....out of the 4 that I got only 1 done, even though I had gone to the 2nd one to start...and now she is school age?? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM SOME OF MY CLASSMATES!!!!!!!! I School I have attended schools in different areas of Indiana and graduated from Greencastle High School. I knew personally Mr Basketball Steve Alford, his brother Sean was in my class in New Castle, Indiana. Their mother was my piano teacher, and their father Sam was head basketball coach and his assisant was my back door neighbor!! I started school in a small town in northern Indiana. We lived an average of 5 years in one place due to my dad's job.... College A lot happened during my college years. Most of it was good, most of it was life teaching. That was also where I met my future husband and the father of my children. Workplace My first jobs were babysitting, detasseling corn, and working various places at DePauw University. Since then I have worked at fast food, factories, babysitted at home, and worked in nursing homes/home health care. I love working home health care/nursing ho...Expand for more
mes the best...the patients have so much to offer if you take the time to listen. I worked with one patient in home health care for a year and half, I was at her house for over 4 hours a day. I got to know her quite well...I was with her on the day of 9~11~01. When her health started making a turn for the worst, I knew it. She was a great lady and I am glad that I had a chance to meet her, and get to know her better. My favorite job of all and the most rewarding though is being a parent to 3 wonderful children. My heroes are my Mom and my Grandma (Mom's Mom). They both always told me that I could do whatever I wanted to, but had different ways of letting me know that. I miss my Grandma...She is living down near my family in Putnam County now and I don't get to see her all that often... The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Dawn Anderson , because she was my best friend while living in New Castle. If one of us didn't think of it the other would. I lost track of her after moving away. I miss you and our friendship so much Dawn. Do you remember that day in Personal Living where everyone got sick from the topic of discussion that day? We were talking about the Uncle of the teacher and what he did for a living.... Which teacher would you love to see again? why? In Greencastle, there are two teachers that I would love to see. One is Mrs. Brett Krieble. She is an awesome teacher who helps her students reach for the stars!! The other is Mrs. Kaemmer...she pushed me to be the best person that I could be. I am grateful that she did that. My favorite part of living in the dorm was meeting and getting to know everyone, plus the 'unbirthday party' that my dorm had. We celebrated everyone's birthday on one certain day, and the dorm manager even had contacted our families for them to send stuff to us for the party. I loved my Church family in New Castle. One day I was the lighter of the candle and as I was walking down the aisle bringing God's light to light the main candle everyone at Church said that I had a glo to me, like God or His Angels were surrounding me. I had the biggest smile on my face. What a wonderful feeling that was...I remember feeling when I was walking that I was so proud to be bringing in His light
