Tara's Story

Life After graduation, I went to Chico State where I was working toward becoming a teacher. I quickly realized that this was not exactly what I wanted, so I changed my major to Sociology and graduated in 1994 with my B.A. I became a social worker, first working with adults with developmental disabilities, then with pregnant and parenting teenagers. I met my soulmate, Monte while still living in Chico and together we moved to Santa Rosa where I began working on my Master's Degree in Counseling and he began working on his B.A. After two long, grueling years I finished my M.A. in Counseling and my Pupil Personnel Services Credential and Monte is graduating this month (May) with his B.A. I am now a school counselor (or I should say THE school counselor) at Anderson Valley Jr./Sr. High School, Rancheria Alternative High School and ...Expand for more
Anderson Valley Elementary School. I can't believe that I went and decided to live in a small town like Middletown, but I got really tired of traffic and smog. Monte and I were married just two months ago (March 15, 2001) and we are very happy living in Anderson Valley. I absolutely LOVE my job although it keeps me much too busy to consider having children anytime soon. We hope to adopt a child eventually (when Monte sells his novel). I hope everyone is well and would love to hear from any of you who have the time!! Update: August 2007- My husband Monte and I now have a daughter, Maitea who is 3 years old and we just moved to Idaho. I am still a school counselor and Monte is a teacher. We moved out of state to be closer to some of our friends and so that we could afford to buy a house. We have only lived here a month but so far, so good.
