Other interests include ancient history, astronomy, collecting coins and minerals, and
languages.
Workplace
Since graduation (Caltech 1977) I have held several postdoctoral positions in theoretical physics at laboratories...Expand for more
and universities in Europe (especially England) and North America. I moved back to the USA in 1989 and have been a staff scientist at Oak Ridge National Lab and a Prof.of Physics at the University of Tennessee since then.
I spend too much time attending conferences and workshops in the US, Europe, and recently in Japan, China and Korea. I also managed to be interviewed on CNN and was quoted in the NY Times and USA Today for some of the things I have been doing recently. Since I am a theorist, nothing I do actually explodes. (Just kidding. I mainly work on the theory of quarks and gluons, which are relatively safe.)
