Ted's Story

Life After I graduated I left CT to live in ME and I attended Univ. of Maine Orono where I got my BA in Int'l Relations/Poli Sci. Before I graduated I nearly died from constrictive pericarditis in 1989 which took me out for a semester, one open heart surgery later and I have been sound as a dollar since. That was scary, who wants to die at 23? But after I graduated from U.Maine in 1990, I headed south to D.C. to try my hand at international politics. It is a hard town to get into gov't service in. I knew a guy at Bechtel and got my first real job as an area expediter. My job was to go into fabrication shops and make sure that the vendor got his engineering submitted and approved, bought out his materials, and kept to the production schedule. After a couple years I was sent to Maracaibo Venezuela where I met my wife Susana. We got married there in 1994. After returning to the US in 1995 I worked for a subsidiary of Kobe Steel in Charlotte, NC and lived in Rock Hill, SC. In order to move up I moved out of that company and into a short stint with a local drywall contractor as an office manager, quit them to go work for Parsons Infrastructure in the telecoms biz as a buyer. I got laid off with a bunch of others after the dot com bubble burst. Then I got back with Bechtel and moved to Kennewick, WA and lived there for a few years and when that pro...Expand for more
ject folded I moved to a project in Borger, TX where I was a warehouse supervisor and still have my family. Right now I am a project expediter on a refinery job for an Indian oil company in Mumbai India. It's definately not Kansas there Dorothy, but I am enjoying myself. I have been sent to lots of different places, and I have been to just about every state in the union, and Mexico, Canada, Curacao, Venezuela, Germany, and now India. I have two beautiful children, Anna and Patrick who are 8 and 7 respectively. They are smart little kids and I am really proud of them. I'm still into anything automotive and have had a few motorcycles as well, sold my hog before coming here which I now regret, such is life, I'll get another. I never would have guessed that I would have had all of the experiences I have had when I graduated from NWC. Honestly, high school was not my best time of life as I was not at all popular. I'm over that, we're adults now. But I made up for it in college and later in life, pretty damn rewarding now, I lead a charmed life. Feel free to look me up in the phone book if you are ever in Texas. A 2021 update: since 2007 we have moved several times, most notably to Australia for four years 2009-2013, and in Tennessee for a while, now we are back in Texas. Both of my children are attending Texas A&M with Anna set to graduate this year.
