Ted's Story

After leaving Minnesota and joining the Navy, I sailed the pacific, north and south, along with the Indian ocean, with many ports of call. Was on station in the Persian Gulf for the Iran hostage crisis in 1978-79 sailing out of Pearl Harbor. When I got out of the Navy in 80, I lived in Hawaii for about 10 more years or so, then moved to San Francisco. At that time in SF I started working in sales management, and started traveling again. I visiting my buddy Doug, who was DOD, stationed in Rota Spain for 5 years. I visited him and his wife each of those 5 years and together we explored Portugal, Spain, France and north Africa. Now married to my dear wife, together we have traveled a lot through out northern Europe, England and Scotland. We both went to Rota Spain, but after the first time she realized that the trip was about me wanting to hang out with my old friend Doug. She liked it, but only went once. Last spring (2014) she went on a walking tour of Italy with her sister. They walk 150 miles or so in just over 2 weeks, going village to village in Umbira. I really wanted to go, but it was a sister thing. That time I was the 3rd wheel. This spring (2015) Mary and I are planning to going to Italy in September to the Amalfi coast, Pompeii,Sorrrento, Rome and Naples their will be photos to follow. (come monday the 21st, its off and away to Italy I say, to drink the wine and hike coast, so fine to see the world that way, its all so big, so many places to play, when I left Minnesota I had to go, little did I realize there were so many place so nice to know) Google Amalfi coast images, OMG, OMG! . Favs, Mary, laughing, hiking in the mountains, mountain biking, road biking, pack in camping, surfing, being in the air, and getting to the desert.. Fav LP, Capercallies Delirium. Give it a listen, its really good! I found that there really was a world on the other side of that window I gazed through as a troubled kid. I decided to stop looking through it and just get out their and live in it, so glad I did.. Hope you all find away to that place. I'll see you there when you do. Ted P.S. (also so known as, "post script") Life is what we have, living is what we do. Please don't...Expand for more
forget to put as much living in your life as you can. In every day we can become a little more apart of all the things that surround us, therefore, celebrate and be among the living, you may find out that life can be very much worth it. Here is hoping you do. Also In the profile note I put one of my favorite poems, it was of great comfort when I first left Minnesota. I hope that you take the time to give it a read. Later Ted ;-) PS (summer 2016) This summer it's off to Devon England for a friends birthday party! That's Jane Austin land for you book worms, bath is such a great town and they have the great's steak and ale pie there. As the song go'es, "life is a highway" and it's so much better when you get out their and go. Hope to see you on that road soon. (pictures to follow) Razz (old navy handle) ;-) And in the year of our stage (2017), I got a new car, down load about 30 hours of music to a thumb drive and loaded in cars entertainment processor. So now the ride is a roll jukebox. To celebrate Mary and I did a two week road across the south west starting at Vegas for two days, (what a tacky town) and then off to the Hoover Dam, very cool. We spent four days hiking in the Grand Canyon only to head south to watch the SF Giants play at spring training in Scottsdale AZ. We left their to visit my friend Doug and his brother down by San Diego. We spent three days working on his hanger door and never got a plane in the air. It was okay because I just like hanging out with those guy. After that it was three days of wine tasting up in Paso Robles. Mary and I are off to Devon England for a friends wedding and plain to make it a two week trip in June. My boss really doesn't like it but time is so much more then money.
