Ted Roosevelt's Story
After leaving high school I attended Jarvis Christian College on a Athletic Scholarship in Football. After one year an obtaining good grades I decided to join the US Navy and became a Dental Technician (cleaning teeth and making false teeth). With two years left in the Navy I married my childhood sweetheart in 1963.
After getting a honorable discharge from the Navy I spent 18 months in Lufkin working at the Foundry and having my first child, a daughter in 1965.
Left Lufkin in 1966 and was hired by Boeing in Seattle, Washington through the mail based mainly on my college courses taken at Jarvis College to work as a Aircraft Jig Builder.I worked at Boeing for three years while taking College classes at night. Using the GI Bill I obtained my BA Degree in 1972 and my Masters in Education Administration in 1976. I taught high school history for three years. ool Principal and remained a Principal until 2005 when I officially retired.
What I did not mention is my wife Cora and I managed to have six more children for a total of seven children. Four girls and three boys.My wife odtained her bachelors degree in Education and taught Elementary School for over 25 years.She is still teaching but thinking seriously about retiring. We have lived in Seattle, Washington for over 42 years where we own our home and two rental houses. We have seven children,and fifteen grand children.
We enjoy visiting Lufkin and try to get back every two years and sometimes every year.I try to keep track of most of my classmates.My wife and I are in good health and attend church on a regular basis. I stay busy by serving on Educational Boards, my Fraternity(Omega Psi Phi)and the (Masons). I also sing in the Church Choir. Cora and I have beed happily married for 45 years and still counting.
