Telford's Story
Hello all,
To those who knew me and those who did not, allow me to refresh your memory. I was an exchange student from Liberia, West Africa.
My exchange parents were John and Helen Jones, to whom I am forever grateful, for giving to me a lifetime of wonderful memories. They will forever live in my heart. To my brothers Jeffrey, John Jr and Richard Jones who till today, are still brothers to me, have kindled a relationship that has never gone dim and to YFU (Youth for Understanding) organization,God bless those that made a difference.
Now for those who remember me, my thoughts at that time were, how could Africa miss out on such wonderful people, your voices, decency and kindness were intriguing and envied, therefore I wanted to be you, like an American. Yes I was sometimes teased for my sometimes bizarre ways but overall, we were students of Niles Sr. High. My alma mater.
Today, I am a tax accountant and preacher and have been blessed with five wonderful chil...Expand for more
dren; two out of college and married, two about to graduate from college, one about to enter high school and my wonderful wife, Edita.
As I reflect on the past, including the wars in Africa, that caused me to reassess my direction in life, my parents, Igal and Eleatha Ammons and my siblings, life has given me some cherries and briars too. But God has taken both my fruits and faults and caused me to be faithful. I am faithful to Africa for borning me, to America for bearing with me and to God for blessing me.
I am most blessed because of what I know and how I have experience life in these two continents and to think, that I thought myself to be different is an under statement in the face of God. We are the same people with difference ways, attitudes,looks and experiences but that is what makes us special and peculiar and unique.
I now reside in Arlington Texas, by way of Niles Michigan, Chicago Illinois and Los Angeles California. Thank you!
