Becky's Story
School
Hello, It's me, Becky. If you have looked at my schools, I've listed you can see that I moved a couple of times. And when my family moved it was into different cities. Trying to fit in was hard. Choosing the right friends often proved difficult. Now, I have lived in the same city since 1981. I have been involved at the school level fitting in much better (than the early years!) When my son started school (1992)I had a need to feel connected to them through their school. I think in part this was due to feeling so disconnected as a kid. I've been room mom, classroom volunteer (7yrs), Elementary School PTA President (3years), school district employee as elementary office assistant (8yrs), elementary (UGH!)noon duty (8 yrs), (5th grade at Hickory)instructional assistant (5 yrs), and as a high school secretary under an assistant principal for student services! Alas, that was for a year, due to budget cut backs I came to Yukon Elementary in the fall of 2004. I've been there since. It's a great place to work. My son graduated in 2004 and my daughter in 2007. They are both in the military. David is Air Force and Jamie is Army...Expand for more
Reserve. (I'm very proud of my children's choices in life they are making.) From my start at Carr, I will ALWAYS be a Carr Cub.) Having been at Arlington(office)Carr(office/parent)/Magruder(pare
nt),North High and now at Yukon.
College
Okay, I started at Mesa College Spring 1978 my major was fashion merchandising. After becoming frustrated at not finding a job in my field, while in school, I went full time at Toys R Us. I started working at Toys R Us in Nov. 1977. From there I worked my way up from stock clerk to operations manager at the Toys Us us in Torrance, Ca. I left in 1986. From there I had a couple of jobs then became a stay home mom. In 1995 when my youngest started kindergarten, I went back to El Camino College and got my certificate in early childhood education. From there I went on to work at a preschool as a sub, then office assistant at an elementary school. Now I have returned again to El Camino to complete my A.A. in Early Childhood Education. I don't want to be a teacher. It is where I have the most units to graduate in Spring 2004. So Yes, I finally GRADUATED in June 2004! Long time coming.
