Teresa's Story

After graduating, I married and started a family. We were a happy couple/family for 12 years before the divorce (long, long, long story). Needless to say, the kids and I moved to Michigan in 2002 and have been here since. I have two beautiful children (Shelby (15), and Zachary (7)). Shelby will be a sophomore (what is with all of the text messages kids send now, isn't easier just to call them if you have that much to say?) and Zachary is going into 3rd grade. They are the light of my life! I work for the State of Michigan but my program is funded solely by donations. The Children with Special Needs Fund is a program that helps children of Michigan obtain things that no other fund, organization, or even insurance will help with (i.e. wheelchair ramps, van lifts, therapeutic tricycles, etc). keep in touch with quite a few people back home and miss the Cajun food! Most of all, I have learned that each state the people seem like they are from a different planet. To all of my friends back home, there is no one like you! I am grateful for all that I have and all that will come my way. I look forward to what each day brings! Memories of Southwood... I have a picture perfect memory and still remember the SHS alma matter, the license plate on my 65 mustang, the guys racing by the pits on crutches and not being able to stop therefore going thru the glass windows. I remember Mr. Langdon pinning money on the bulletin board for the person who could answer his question right... And who could ever forget Mr. Adger "whoa, whoa, whoaaaaa". What was in that room behind him anyway? LOL! I remember the horrible accident that took Shelly Bales way too young.
