Teresa's Story
Well, after high school I went to RCC, like most of Riverside, spending little more of 4 years there dancing on the dance team w/ marching band and touring other countries performing. When I decided to grow up somewhat, I worked on and eventually received my first AA in Political Science, with the intent of persuing a career in law. During this time I got married and had my beautiful daughter. Two and a half years later I had my son and put my BA on hold. I divorced 3 years later and became a single mom. Relizing that law would not be a family friendly career to a single mom, I went back to RCC and got my second AA in Early Childhood Studies and my Child Dev. Teaching Credential. I've been teaching Head Start State Pre-school for 10 years now for Colton School District. I few years ago I started going to Azusa Pacific to finsh my BA in Hmman Development. I have one class left, but can't seem to find the time to finish with 2 teenagers at home. My daughter is a junior at Arlington. so a Girl Scout- working on her Gold Award. My son is in 8th grade at Chemawa and is on the band. He plays the trumpet and the baritone. He is a Boy Scout- Life Rank, and will start working on his Eagle project soon. I am very proud of both of them. I have been my daughter's leader in scouts for 10 years and my son's for 7- I'm now an assistant Scoutmaster. I have spent so much time in the last 11 years volunteering for all my kids activities, this past June I received the President's Call to Service Award (yeah, like President of the U.S.)for lifetime service. When I am not raising my hand to say "Oh, I will do that", I like to bike, hike and camp. I like photography when I have the time. But my favorite thing is to get lost in is my artwork. About 4 years ago when I took an art for teachers class as APU I got back in to doing my mosaics. I have a makeshift studio (ha!) in my garage, but I tend to spread it all over my dining room because the light is better. I am working on a website for my work, so I will post it when it's finally done. That's my story so far... not very exciting, but always busy.
