Teresa's Story
I always wanted to be a psychiatrist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I think when you study psychology, you develop every disease you read about. Even my Abnormal Psychology professor at Georgia State said we would start seeing problems in ourselves about everything that we read. He was right. Although I did not ever get my degree, I did turn out to be quite a listening ear to all my friends and even strangers most of the time, so I guess I did miss my calling by not finishing my education as a psychiatrist. (and get paid for doing it)
I guess the wildest thing I ever did in high school was to go with a group of classmates and "roll" Mrs. Bomar's yard. We had toilet paper everywhere and she NEVER knew who did it!!!! Things did get a little wilder after high school, but we shall not go into that.
I would love to see Mr. Dailey again. I was such a Beatlemaniac in school and he loved them too (plus he was a great algebra teacher). He even wrote in my annual on his picture, "yeah, yeah, yeah". I often wonder how he is doing...He was always nice to everyone and all his students loved him.
I love to go to Tybee Island, Ga. My son and I have been going about ten years now and it is our favorite place to relax...Oh, to live by the beach and just chill-----
One of my best friends, Yvonne, just passed away this year on Valentine's Day from cancer which she had fought for over fifteen years. She and I became friends when I was going through breast cancer myself. What an awesome inspiration she was to all around her because her faith and trust in God never waivered, and she ministered to so many people around her. I miss her every day but know where she is..Now she is living the story she so longed to tell everyone when she was alive.
My two sons are so loving and thoughtful. I raised them both as a single parent and I do not think this was ever a hindrance to them. They are two wonderful Christian men who love God and love people and I could not be more blessed than to have t...Expand for more
hese two guys in my life.
If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to people who needed it, like the old show "The Millionaire", then spend the rest on my family and friends.
Happiness has to come from within. I know so many people with money who are quite miserable. Just being with my family, friends, and loved ones are enough to make me realize that this is all you need.
I will never forget my Dad. He passed away in 2003 and he was one of my best friends. We did not always get along, ( I was a wild child, and he was very old fashioned), but in the end of his life, he gave his life to God and was such an awesome man...I know that he served as a male influence in my son's lives and they will never forget that.....
I think that one of life's biggest surprises is how it passes so fast...Looking back on things now seems like just yesterday, but yet even 40 years have zipped by in the blink of an eye. I am now the person that I used to look at when I rode the bus and think she was so "old", yet I don't feel old.....Life is one wild ride sometimes but it is worth it when you look around at your friends and family and all your loved ones and feel them in your heart.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my kitchen and add on a craft room. My dream home would be a log cabin in the mountains but near water..
One time in Texas over thirty plus years ago, I worked at a carnival (just for one night). It was horrible and the people were so strange even then. I remember my boss had tattoos on both his hands on all his fingers. My boyfriend at the time was late picking me up and I was beginning to get scared (there were some really strange wierdos there) and one guy who worked there was so nice and invited me to sit with him and his life story was so interesting. He used to hang out with Timothy Leary (all you old hippies know him and by the way, I did meet him in California many years later when he spoke at a college)...Finally, my ride arrived and I was safe (or so I thought)..Anyway, to work at a carnival has never appealed to me again.
