Teresa's Story
Life
Since graduating HS, I have lived in Madera, with the exception of 5 years spent a Fresno Pacific College. I graduated in 1985 with a Liberal Studies degree and attended for another year to get a teaching credential. In 1986 I began teaching at Washington Elementary in Madera. I stayed there 2 years before transferring to Sierra Vista. I taught bilingual first grade for 5 years. During this time, I applied for and won the General Aviation Manufaturers Award in 1991. As a winner, the teaching unit I had developed on the subject of flight was published in the Embry-Riddle Teachers Resource Center in Florida.
In 1989, I married my pilot husband John. We love to travel, especially to Hawaii for scuba diving. We have a son Jordan, who is in grade 8 at TJ and a son Tyler, who is in...Expand for more
grade 5 at Lincoln.
I currently teach English Language Development at Firebaugh HS part time. This teaching assignment is providing the research necessary for me to complete a Masters Degree at Fresno Pacific University--Bicultural Literacy with a Reading emphasis. This 3-year journey should be complete by Spring 2009. We are hoping to then move to The Big Island of Hawaii where I will study Hawaiian culture and language and John will be a charter pilot. The boys are really looking forward to the move.
Diving has been a big part of my life since HS. I am currently the head diving coach at Clovis West HS and the club diving coach in Clovis. Along with coaching, I am also a competitor. Diving has given me to opportunity to travel all over the US and Canada and make a lot of friends.
