Teresa's Story

I’m a mother to 2 daughters ages 18 and 22. I love animals and have many pets. I enjoy working. I realize now that I should have been a veterinarian but instead I got my medical lab degree from the UW. Took me 5 years since I didn’t know what to major in. I love science so this degree ended up being perfect for me. I have worked in many hospital labs in Tacoma and Seattle . I moved to Pullman to heal and to find myself and my calling you could say . I worked as a lab tech at the vet hospital at WSU. I am a Husky and Cougar. I attended grad school in food science at WSU . I was in school for a year and a half before realizing that I liked being a med tech more. I loved helping people and animals not directly but in a behind-the-scenes sort of way hidden in a lab. Perfect for an introvert. I got the vet job and decided to stay in Pullman. My Seattle friends didn’t understand and some were not very supportive of my move. Well they’re not real friends I discovered. That vet job was my favorite of all my jobs and I learned to love Eastern WA. I was the happiest living there from 2009-2016. I felt that I belonged on the Palouse . The small town life is perfect for me. My second husband is fr...Expand for more
om Spokane. We got married in Pullman in 2015. Robert is a medical service engineer and got a job outside Denver. We moved in 2016. I miss the beauty of WA but I absolutely love the sunshine here. I would love to own property someday and have a mini farm. Unfortunately it is getting so expensive everywhere. I love my job working at a small hospital north of Denver. I definitely feel a spiritual connection with people by helping them in the medical field. I am enjoying life and have a strong supportive network . I’m blessed with wonderful coworkers, friends, and family (including my ex-in laws). I’m so proud of my daughters. They’re very independent, kind, and smart young women. I have learned that life is easier when you persevere and work hard, stay positive, and challenge yourself by going outside of your comfort zone. If you have to work, know that choosing a career you’re interested in and are passionate about makes work more enjoyable. Being grateful, being kind, learning from mistakes and failures, respecting people and life makes you happy and successful in my opinion. I hope all of my classmates have found their own success and happiness in life since leaving high school! Cheers!
