Teresa's Story

My updated story: I am on disability retirement from the state of Ohio Department of Rhabilitation & Correction. I worked at Lorain Correctional Institution for 171/2 years . My mom kept me busy as she battled cancer for five years. In the end the cancer won. Mom passed away with her family at her side. The next big step was sending my daughter to The Ohio State University. Sarah graduated in four years with her Masters Degree in ED. Sarah currently teaches 7th grade English at Margaretta. She also is the middle school head coach for cross country and track. Sarah talks about going for her PHD, that would be great, if I could wish anything for her it would be to take the next step in her Education. I could'nt be more proud of the lady she turned into. Mark and I have been married 34 years. We are happily married and Mark is looking forward to retirement from N&S RR in seven years. He is a foreman for the bridge & building department. He also is one of there safety auditors. This sometimes takes him away from home. That's when old classmates come into play. I spend time with Mitzi (Zackeral) Taylor. This is one friendship that was reconnected because of Sarah & Margot being best friends. We are good therapy for each other when were feeling down, we can talk and help each other. Thats a Best Friend, always there when you need them! The girls of '79 have a girls night out once a month. We either go to a friends house or out to eat. There is usually eight of us. This is when best friends go crazy. The stories that are told, and the non stop laughter lets you know your with Best Friends. This group did not necessarilly hang out together in HS. That was then and this is now. To my " Girls Night Out Friends" thanks for keeping us reconnected. This is my story updated. My life has been full of happy times, and I also hope yours has too. Mark is currently retired. He keeps busy taking care of our 51/2 acres, then takes care of his brother, who is blind, missing a leg below the knee and has leukemia. Now we also take care of his parents who's health is not the greatest. Life is a big journey and you never know what might come along next. Take care friends, Teresa I jogged this morning in Milan. The HS cross country team was running also. I thought to myself not bad for 50! Last night was "Girls Night Out". We met at Casta Fiesta in Norwalk. We may have been a little loud with the laughter, but that's what happens when your with Best Friends. I ran this morning and kept up with a group of guys from HS cross country. I wanted to ask how old they thought I was. But changed my mine, if they said older then I am my heart would've been crushed. Hello friends, I enjoy the fact that you sign my guest book. This lets me know your thinking about me. I only wish you would leave me a message. I respond to all the signatures, please do the same for me. Mark and I just had a wonderful meal with his father. The nephews and Aunts and Uncles got caught up. Many laughs. My brother in law has a pothesic leg. He told three different stories about being out and having his leg fall off. I thought everyone was going to P their pants. There's no handicap in his volcabulary. I miss my father more and more as the years go on. He didn't get to meet Sarah. I know she would have loved him so much. He was quit the joker. He had my Aunt convinced that you needed to wear a motorcycle helmet when riding my pony. He would mumble to her and she couldn't hear him. He then convinced her she had to leave her ears on the outside of the helmet. Just imagine someone actually trying this task. I hope all fathers had a great day. And to those of us that don't have our fathers anymore they know were thinking about them on this specail day. I went to McDonald's to grab a quick lunch. I saw Jean LaVines daughter. She told me that my best friend Keith is having heart trouble. I stopped at his parents house to find out what was really wrong. This just upset me so much I was a crying fool. I told Andy and Kay to let Keith know he's in my prayers and thoughts. He was a close friend that treated a small time farm girl from B. Heights with respect and didn't hold where I lived against me. I was a plain Jane farm girl. I will never forget the friendship we shared. Please all EHS graduates pray for his recovery and for Keith to get back to the active life he always led. I just want to feel good. I want to be able to stop all my medicine. I beleive the medicine is taking a toll on me. I fell down the steps today, what's one more bruise! I've taken up running, I feel good when I'm out there by myself. I have plenty of time to think. I had a bad day so I took a run again tonight at 7:00. I hope tomorrow holds better new. I'm going with my friend for her chemo treatment. I'm waiting to see how her progress has improved. to all my friends please take care of yourselves! To m...Expand for more
y classmates of 1979 Tom Harlow has taken 20 tickets to sell.. I've sold three, need to get my butt in gear. Vallery took 50 tickets to Columbus. She ran into Clark Hahn, he's in Columbus and agreed to sell tickets. We need more classmates to step up to the plate. It's way down the road, but our 35Th is going to be one big event paid for by the classes bank account. This is all depending on you to participate and sell tickets. If you want to sell them get ahold of me on facebook and I'll deliver or get them in the mail. Thanks for your support, Teresa It's been a day already. Up and hitting the road at 8:00. I only made it to 1.688 miles. I don't understand I run the same course everyday. Still working with classes having reunions this year. Please let your classmate know if your attending. It's time to secure a hall and contact a cattier. I can look at Sawmill and see if they would give classes from EHS a discount on a buffet, or room rate discount package. This is only if there's classes that want me to check. That's all I'm doing is gathering the information, the class has to do the actual event. Take care everyone and I hope your reunions are a great success! take care, your friend Teresa I telephoned 11 classmates of Loren Heckleman to sell the class of '79 OSU raffle tickets. I had one yes, Randy Taylor took 10 tickets to sell. This is a sweet deal it costs your class nothing, open up your mouth and asking friends and family members to purchase a ticket. Your class gets $5.00 for each ticket you sell. This money will be used for future events. reunions. Please check out the merchant discounts we have obtained so far. We are working with all different types of entertainment. I have to say I'm very pleased with my running. I ran 2.168 miles in 28 minutes. My husband said that's around four mph. I run morning and night. Well I think I know how cross country runners feel. I've got the worse case of shin splints. When I walk it feels like I'm walking on peg legs. I did manage to get in 2.327 miles tonight OUCH!!! I think I'm back tp walking for a while. I strongly encourage everyone to take time and think about your reunions. Those in charge from your class have a list of things they can't do until you say yes or no. Theres been alot of hardwork put into making your reunion special. Remember your class leaders are volunteering their time and only asking you for a yes or no. Please try to reply to them by 8/2. There are dead lines to be met for group rate discounts. thank you for helping, Teresa Please EHS graduates take time to say a prayer for the Hiemstra family. I'm having a tough time with this. No parent (Mark) should have to burry a child at 24. Mark is a hard worker and knew the meaning of sportsmanship. I'm sure he passed these traits down to his children. God Bless you all. Today is my lucky day. I go to my Neurologist today. I had a fainting spell on the 26th. This usually involves the words "no driving." I will let you know what the verdict is when I get done. Once again classmates need to let your chaair person for your reunion if your coming or not. They've worked hard to plan your event, But are unable to rent the hall or order the food. It's a shame classmates can't find time to say yes or no. Everyone in the class of 1980 if your planing on attending your 30th reunion, please let Kelly Kiser know. She needs to secure the Colonade, and set up the menu, and how much food is needed/ I have a house full of family coming to my house tomorrow for the 4th. We are not ready by no means. I'm sick, and Marks working five 10hr. days. There's not enough hours in the day for Mark to get all his chores done. The grass needs mowed, the pool needs to be cleaned. We don't have our patio furniture out yet. I just don't think the family understands when Mark gets home he about three hrs. to do yard work, pool, lawn. He enjoys all of these projects but never sees the light at the end of the tunnel. So we'll see what tomorrow brings. To everyone else may you have a nice 4th of July, and remember what the day actually stands for. God Bless America, What a day I/m having. I broke my grandfather clock. Then I proceed to slice my finger open with the lid to a can of baked beans. Ihave the shingles, poision ivy, family conflict. What a Saturday I couldn't ask for anything more. I think I should just go back to bed a pretend today never happened! I had ten people at the house yesterday to celebrate the 4th. We had a very nice day, some hit the pool, others sat in the shade and just got caught up. There are about eight coming back today, heat:swim&swim&swim!!! I now know why I don't cook. Everytime I end up slicing watermellon, cantelope, or a can of baked beans wow the lid can cause a lot of hurt. My Dr.'s think cooking would be a good social network for Mark & I. I could bleed to death. I cut my finger at 10.00 and it's Been bleeding ever since.
