Teresa's Story

I moved to Flint, MI from KY, at the age of 10, and was enrolled into Lincoln Elem. Despite my Southern accent,(kids can be so mean!) I made alot of great friends,(Julie Thibeaut,David Hutchens,Gordon Abbott,Sharon Yost)and had my first crush, (Phillip Klee). I mention this because we soon moved to the Beecher/Mt.Morris area and I became one of the many temp. students who sat in the gymnasium of Daly Elem. while const. on Dolan Jr. High was completed. That's where I met "my lifetime, never forget friends". The friends I grew up with. Susie, Marcia, Peggy, Sherry, Gail, Patty, Linda, Debbie, Blanche, Lois, Mark, Sparky, Howard, Bobby, Rick, C.J., Barbara, JoLonda, Don, and so many others. During my Senior year at Beecher High, I had to transfer to Southwestern HS due to family conflicts, and finished senior year there, back with the kids from Lincoln Elementary! Bittersweet. I have tried to attend the Beecher Class of '72 reunions and it always makes me sad when people don't show because of what they have or don't have. Or how much they've changed or what direction their life took. Who cares? Here is what a reunion means to me: It's an opportunity. I was so crippled by shyness that it kept me from telling my classmates what they meant to me. Example: I let true friends walk out of my life because o...Expand for more
f jealousy. Shallow? You bet. That's why I make every effort to attend the reunions. The person that I might have hurt may be there. The person that I failed to thank or compliment or hug, may be there. One never knows when it might be the last reunion. I have been blessed with a great memory and although I don't live in the past, I haven't forgotten those who had such an impact on my life and didn't even know. A reunion holds the possiblity of a long overdue apology, thanks, compliment, explanation, and who knows? Maybe even an "I've waited all my life for you" lol I live in TN. About 35 min. outside of Knoxville, (GO VOLS!!) in the foothills of the Smoky Mtns. I live a very small, insignificant, and quiet life..having resigned as the bookkeeper for Home Depot, and have 2 sons. Jason Byrd, his dad is Darryl Byrd, BHS Class of '70. Son 2 is Chad Rogers, his dad is Jerry Rogers, who attended the 10 yr. reunion with me. My sons are true blessings and are the reason I live and breathe. Neither are married. I don't think their male friends nor myself have set a good example for them in the marriage department. I thank God every day for His presence in my life and acknowledge that without Him I am lost. I have had a very blessed life and hope and pray to see all my classmates again. With love, Teresa
