Teresa's Story
After many years as a title officer, I retired in November, 2008 to have a bilateral mastectomy. I am over 11 years post op and hopefully cancer free. I still enjoy gardening, writing, painting, gambling and hanging out with grandkids.
Granddaughter, Krystle, is now 35 years old. She and fiancé, Derek, both have enjoyed careers acting, directing and modeliing.. Recently returning from Atlanta to the L.A. area, Krystle is studying for a new career as a teacher, while Derek has launched an exciting new travel service. So proud of these talented and unique young people. Looking forward to their wedding in May, 2020.
My Lucas is now 27 and loves his position with Definition Films. His time is spent traveling and working with gifted video photographers to capture magic moments and create awesome promotional videos for impressive clients. I Hope that he can still find time for his guitar and tennis and, of course for his "Meemaw".
19 Year old Miranda is enjoying her sophomore year at SRJC, before heading off to continue her education in Hawaii and pursue her dream of becoming a marine biologist. She continues her love of music, dance, drama and writing poetry.
16 Year old Alex is at junior at Santa Rosa High School. He plays impressive guitar, along with multiple other string and wind instruments. Like his sisters before him, he lends his voice to the Concert Choir and is entrenched in the Art Quest Program at SRHS. Alex is a talented storyteller, photographer and editor; his inspired video creations were featured in last year’s SRHS Art Quest presentation.
Husband, Rod, is still a docent on the Jeremiah Obrien Liberty Ship in San Francisco, and is a member of the Santa Rosa Gem & Mineral Society. If he isn't playing on his ship or gathering awesome geologic specimen, he is gazing through his microscope, identifing and labeling his treasures.
Son, Ward, is an engineer with Kaiser Hospital in Napa. His wife, Liz, is a hostess at J Winery in Healdsburg. Their very active family and wonderful group of friends keep them extremely busy, but they still find time to get in daily runs. They embrace our challenges as their own.and even manage to share an occasional game of 42 or poker with the old folks.

ew son-in-law . We love you, Jason! Alanna owns a cleaning business and has a passion for physical fitness. She enjoys gardening, dancing, yoga and chauffeuring her mother around town. She is my companion and friend.
Our focus for over 4 years has been rebuilding our home that burned to the ground on September 4, 2015. It has been a traumatic and tedious journey with silver linings. We were just beginning to enjoy our (new/old) home, while working out the inevitable glitches, when we were again torched by the Kincade Fire. On October 25, 2019, the wild fire swept through the Foothills Regional Park, which wraps around our five acres on three sides, taking out magnificent and ancient
trees, beehives, outbuildings, tools
equipment, well house and water lines, all utility structures, all perimeter and cross fencing. We also lost the trailer complex that housed us for over 4 years, while we struggled to rebuild. The trailers were home to my grandson, when they were totally obliterated by the Kincade Fire. The heroic efforts of countless firefighters narrowly saved our rebuilt home. Built on the original footprint, the new home replaces the beloved cedar home that we built with the dreams and labor of our youth. The new version replaces the beautiful but flammable cedar with fire resistant materials, and incorporates more geriatric friendly features. The new fire resistant materials, along with Herculean efforts of many firefighters prevented the total destruction of the new house, before it was even finished. We are, however, still displaced through January, pending replacing infrastructure such as well, gas and electrical equipment, replacing insulation, cleaning vents, smoke mitigation of entire house and repairing some structural damage. While things could be much, much better, they could also be much, much worse. This time we still have a home to restore.
Our son and daughter-in-law, Ward and Liz, lost their home in the Tubbs fire in October, 2017. While continuing to help us in our recovery, they are now due to move into the new version of their own home by Christmas.
We love Sonoma County, our family and our life. Wish we could stop the clock and enjoy forever. I can hardly accept our current numbers; still have much to savor in this life.
