Teresa's Story
Life
I have one son named Cole who's 11 now. He plays soccer, is starting Boy Scouts and is a probationary black belt in karate.
My other full-time job is as an attorney, Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law. I have my own practice and do consulting for a non-profit organization in San Antonio, as well as coordinate the pro-bono children's docket for the Executive Office of Immigration Review. I've published a couple of articles and appear on television (Univision) to comment on recent legislation and pending cases.
Before opening my own practice, I worked as the Director of Catholic Charities Immigration Department for 4 years and taught as a Visiting Professor of Law at St. Mary's University School of Law, Center for Legal and Social Justice for 2 years. Prior to that, I worked for a Chinese company and had the opportunity to travel to China several times for that company as in-house counsel. Professiona...Expand for more
lly, it's been a very interesting and challenging adventure.
Cole and I had the opportunity to travel quite a bit this past summer. We went to Germany with my parents, Cozumel for scuba diving and deep sea fishing, and to Colorado for some hiking, biking and river rafting.
We have several pets in our family: our rabbit (Lucky), our dog (Gus), our cat (M&M), our bird (Muffy), and the two fish (Fish Stick and Fishy).
It's been challenging balancing parenting, lawyering, traveling, friends and family, but it's necessary so it all gets done.
My parents moved to San Antonio years ago and Cole is happy to be able to have his grandparents so involved in his life as well.
I still manage to play the piano and the cello ocassionally though not as much as I would like to since that has to be done in my "free time."
All in all, I'd say that so far things have gone well and I hope all our future endeavors to be as interesting!
