Teresa's Story
Life
What a ride! Guess you are all wondering how I (a city gal) ended up in Oklahoma. Sad story, you may remember my brother Bobby. He has A.L.S. (aka: Lou Gehrig's disease). He was living in Oklahoma when diagnosed, loves it here. Because we are citizens of the Cherokee Nation, which has its' headquarters here, my husband and I decided to move here and take care of him. Whatever his needs, the VA or Cherokee Nation will ensure he gets it. He is living with us now, as he has become wheelchair bound. It is an awful disease, literally robs him of all physical ability, although he will be mentally alert at all times. The disease is fatal, so we are spending as much time with him as possible.
We have 5 acres in the country, two horses, 3 dogs and multiple wild cats in the barn. We love our home, but hate the we...Expand for more
ather here (very humid) and the BUGS! Don't get me started on the bugs! Most of our family lives in Oklahoma, so it is nice to be able to spend some time with them.
My son lives in Portland, OR and recently became a new dad (me? a Grandma???) I visit them as often as possible and hope to eventually move back to Oregon.
Don't know how I turned into a country gal, but love being in the country, riding our horses. I have mellowed a lot with age, but still enjoy the occasional rock & roll bar with my Husband. I took over Bob's home-based business (as a Logistics Broker), so I am home with him and there if he needs me. Kind of miss the corporate world, never thought I would be a homebody, but am adjusting to it...
I hope to make it to the 30 year (My god, 30 years???) reunion, and hope to see you all there!
