Teri's Story

Life My name was Teri Boyd. I would have graduated in l975 but graduated in 1974 through coorespondence and left school a year early. I've never regretted my decision since I got on with my life and goals sooner than planned. My name is now Teri Mantz and I've been married 23 years and have two children; a daughter 21 yrs. that has been married to a great guy almost two years now. We have a son 19 yrs. still living at home and works for KB Homes. I have a wonderful, handsome, loving husband and he's truly the best! He is a licensed general contractor and has been in general construction most of his life and is a native of Kansas. We met when I went out there on assignment and he came "home" to Kansas to visit his family. He was living in N.Y. at the time. I was 23 yrs. when we married. I don't know if anyone remembers me from graduating a year early. I deserted my classmates in my junior year and I'm sure the seniors that graduated in '74 don't even know who I am. But anyone who graduated in '75 when I was suppose to graduate might. I currently live in Vacaville Calif. and my only real successful career has been raising 2 great kids. My husbands income has never required me to work, so I've been a fortunate stay at home mom all these years. I still have a brother in Gardnerville, NV and I don't think he and his family will ever leave. Roots are deep! His name is Mike Boyd. That's it for now. Hope to hear from someone. It would be fun to catch up. Just to update as of April 15, 2009 - My husband and I are grieving the death of our son, our only son and youngest child. We had 2 children, a daughter, now 26 years and our son turned 24 years while in the hospital on November 5, 2008. He died November 24, 2008 from a burn accident lighting our firepit in the backyard. He lasted one month in the hospital at UCDavis Medical Center in Sacramento. Accident was O...Expand for more
ctober 25 and died a month later due to complications of MRSA, a deadly staph infection that has become an epedemic in hospitals and has alot of complications associated with it such as sepsis, fatal pneumonia, ARDS, and organ failure. Our son Jesse got all of them. His burns healed beautifully and we never imagined it would end this way. I thought my moms death was the worst pain I could experience. I was wrong. The death of your child - there are just no words. Embrace your loved ones and tell them how much you love them everyday. We don't know what the next day will bring. Our faith has helped us through this difficult time. We look forward to seeing our wonderful son again but in the mean time it's hard to cope with just missing his presence. He was living back at home, had a serious girlfriend & looked forward to being an x-ray tech someday. We dearly loved him & were very close. We are also very close to our daughter & son-in-law, who now live in San Leandro CA an hour away from my husband & I where we live in Vacaville for the past 24 plus yrs. Our daughter is an RDA & son-in-law in HR (human resources) for several years. We raised our family here and love the town and location. Close to Tahoe & the ocean. Anyone out there that remembers me I would appreciate hearing from you as I'm in need of comfort and it would just be fun catching up on what's going on in everyone's lives. I wasn't one to keep up with friends after High School as I graduated a yr. early and traveled and achieved some goals before I married at 23yrs. Other than this recent event we have had a good life together and thank God everyday for the wonderful husband & provider I have. I know we all survive challenges and I think we grow and have more compassion for others and can use this to the good to help one another. The "real life" God has promised is yet to come free of pain & suffering.:-)
