Teri's Story

I would hope that my old friends would remember me as a good person, but not exactly like I was in High School. Hopefully I have changed for the better since then. I would like to think I was a good athlete then, just wish I had kept it up. I always wanted to be a vet when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong!. Unfortunately, I have always had a bad temper (changing that as we speak), but listening to my favorite music has always helped me relax. I think the wildest thing I did in High School was getting drunk off coke and Jim Bean then going to the Natatorium to swim... If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have passion for my job, like my co-workers, and hopefully everyone else to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I am not insprired my anyone in particular, just strong people that seem to have it all together and have the right values and morals. I have lived in the Houston area most of my life since my parents moved us here in 1972, then moved to Katy, TX. We just moved here last month back to the home my husband grew up in and around the corner from where I lived while at Spring Woods. My husband had a stroke , so my father-in-law has given us his house to live in so he didnt have to sell it. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Arlene House, because she was my best friend in High School and we lost touch. My obsessions have been watching my boys play sports, listening to my favorite recording artists and working. My biggest surprise in life was my husband having a strole 2 months ago at the age of 54. I always wondered how I would handle a crisis like this and now I know. Hope I have done a good job. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my living space and kitchen area and add on a pool. My dream home would be more relaxing and entertainable. I have learned that I've done the best I can to make my kids the adults that they are, but have to accept they are their own personalities no matter how I tried to shape them. I have learned I need to quit enabling so much!! I would love to see our swim coach again...she was a gre...Expand for more
at inspiration to us at the time and a great role model. Besides, I don't remember most of the other teachers anyway. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to collectors, then spend the rest on charity, family and myself. If I could be truly happy, I would be somewhere other than Houston that had more seasons, more lanscape and running a gift shop with my family. My current age is 46. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be close to being old. I was so completely wrong. I have been working since I was 16. I believe in hard work and am a self professed work-a-holic. I believe in customer service and treating people with respect. I still haven't figured out what I want to do when I grow up. My first crush was actually th guy I thought would marry right out of high school, but things didnt work out with him since we lived in different states and I have heard that he is on his 4th wife and looked like he was homeless. Wow...glad I wasn't wife #1. I still dress like I did back then...comfortable and always pants. Never did develop a great style and unfortunately neverhadthe figure to go with it. I share my home with husband and 2 boys, which I find comforting. If I had one do-over, I would have chosen to go to college to get more education. In 10 years, I hope to be out of debt and be able to travel more. I'm going to get there by working hard and getting my adult children off my tab soon. Mu oldest friend and I met while we were both volunteering at the Little League fileds. We clicked because of our similarities with our families. I guess the biggest thing that would surprise everyone from high school is how old my kids are since I started so young after school or maybe that I am not as athletic as I used to be. My first job was at Spring Woods Natatorium, where I got paid minimum wage to be a lifeguard. What I remember most about it is how terribly boring it was but how scared I was that I might have to save someone. The best childhood memories I have is hanging out at Shadow Oaks Pool and developing the friendships we still have today. There will never be a group of friends like that ever again!!
