Teri's Story

First, this account is probably very confusing! Teri Evans and her mom, Patricia Richbourg Evans Tetrault, both had Classmates.com accounts. When Pat became ill, Teri started managing EVERYTHING for her, including online accounts. Classmates.com was Teri’s learning curve and the two accounts got combined without our knowledge – now we can’t get them separated. But with the passage of time, that’s OK with that since only one account needs to be maintained and checked. Apologies, though, for the confusion to those of you who are trying to find one of us. Pat just can’t handle the technical stuff anymore; so Teri provides everything to Pat verbally or in print, so Pat does receive messages! Since Teri is Pat’s Power of Attorney, there is little she doesn't already know. However, if you want to send something personal or private to Pat, just mark it as such and Teri won’t read it before giving it to Pat. However, please don’t include reports of deaths in private messages since Teri needs to determine whether the timing is right for the delivery of that kind of news. Anyway, onward and upward about “our stories”... ***** TERI EVANS – CLASS of 1975 – PEACHTREE HIGH SCHOOL, DUNWOODY, GEORGIA TERI, the oldest daughter of Patricia Richbourg and Thomas Evans, is from Atlanta, Georgia. She is single by choice – settling for a half-decent relationship just to be married is not and has never been on her agenda. Her schools included all 5 years and graduation from Peachtree High School; short stents at Georgia Southern and DeKalb Community College; then attendance and graduation on the Dean’s List from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, with an AA Degree in Secretarial Science. She had a long-standing career as a legal secretary / executive assistant at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan; Gulfstream Aerospace; and Hunton & Williams. She also worked as an independent contractor during various periods in her career as a personal manager, which involved a variety of responsibilities ranging from generally managing a client’s life, planning their wedding, moving their residence, paying their bills, to managing their social and business accounts and calendars, as well as those of their spouses and children. While never a dull moment, it was full of challenging endeavors over the years, but it included a good bit of fun and interesting travel, as well as introductions to a lot of interesting and famous people. Teri is no longer working (due to her health) and now lives with Pat and her husband, Richard Tetrault, as Pat’s care partner. Pat’s info is shown below. Teri was fortunate to travel to a number of places. She went to Scandinavia several times for pleasure, traveling first by rail throughout all of Finland, Sweden and Norway and staying in the homes of friends as well as Euro hotels and hostels. During another trip, she spent a romantic week cruising in the Stockholm Archipelago and a week in Stockholm. She also lived in Warsaw for three months while training legal secretaries to work in an American law firm. While there, she traveled around Poland with friends and a translator, staying in the homes of various nationals while visiting the Auschwitz Concentration Camp (very emotional!), castles and other local sites. She has traveled in or through almost 50 mainland states and Canada; and has cruised in the Virgin Islands and of course, the Bahamas. Teri is currently working on the Reunion Committee for the PHS Class of 1975 – 40th Reunion. If you have contact information for any of the 1975 PHS classmates, please leave a message for Teri here on Classmates or find her on Facebook. Please just leave her a message to get in touch, not the person’s contact information. One of Teri’s favorite quotes is: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6. Our family is blessed to have had Jason in our lives for 22 yrs. No family could have been more lucky and no child or young adult could have been more loved. This is certainly not i...Expand for more
ntended to take anything away from Sam and Brooke, because they are equally loved. All three have always known it well! I will love and miss my nephew and Godson as long as I breathe! Jason took a piece of my heart with him to Heaven on February 28, 2010, but I feel him smiling down on us – and it is no surprise that he leaves his Mom hearts (in every conceivable form and fashion possible) just to say “Hey Ma – I’m here!” whenever possible! ****** PATRICIA RICHBOURG EVANS TETRAULT - CLASS OF 1957 - SCREVEN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL - NEWINGTON, GA PATRICIA (or Pat, Tricia or whatever you may have called her) raised her two daughters, Teri and Lisa, as a single Mom from 1968 until they each left home for college in 1975 and 1976. Pat married Richard Tetrault, also of Atlanta, in 1995. Teri will quickly and emphatically state that Pat sacrificed much of her life to raising her girls, especially in light of her sparse education. She sacrificed pursuing additional education and career advancement in order to be close to home and available to them. While she was at times strict and overbearing, it paid off! Neither of her girls ended up in trouble (as some predicted) and in fact, were rather successful in their respective lives. After some 30+ years as Pastor’s Secretary and Church Office Manager, Pat took early retirement on disability in 1995 because of her long-standing health issues. Teri has been living with Pat and Richard as Pat’s care partner since 2011. Teri’s info is shown above. Pat and Tom’s younger daughter, Lisa Evans Bednarz, attended Peachtree High School then college at Georgia Southern and Georgia State before moving to New York in 1981 – and she never looked back! She continued her career in the advertising print production industry, which began in Atlanta. In 1986, Lisa married Brad Bednarz (who was born and raised in New York), and together, they had three amazing children: Jason, Samantha and Brooke. They raised their family in Irvington, NY – a small village on the Hudson River at the base of the Hudson River Valley which is full of tales from the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, as the author of same is from Irvington. Lisa became disabled in 1995 and as a twist of fate, was able to stay home with her children while they were growing up, which turned out to be a great blessing. Tragically, Jason died in his sleep overnight February 27/28, 2010 – just months shy of his college graduation from Springfield College, where he had enjoyed an amazing football career. A very slightly enlarged heart was the only cause of death that could ever be determined. Jason was the light of his Grandmommy’s life when he was born as her first grandchild and she made sure every person she encountered heard all about him and saw all his photos! He was an only child for four years before his first sister, Samantha, was born, (and four more years later, his younger sister, Brooke, was born); so he was absolutely spoiled to the end of the earth by all of us. However, that only served to make him the most lovable, charming, sensitive, funny, strong, young man any Grandmommy and Aunt Teri (A.T.) could want. His death devastated us all and life as we knew it was forever changed that night. Samantha and Brooke are gorgeous (and have been their entire lives!) young women. Sam attended UGA and just graduated in May 2015. She is focusing on a medical career (possibly neonatal nursing?) and will continue her education with graduate and nursing school, hopefully at UGA. Brooke is attending University of Alabama. She was a professional model in Manhattan for several years, appearing in Teen Vogue, Lucky, Seventeen and Collection B online. She is now enjoying fashion study and sorority life in Tuscaloosa. Lisa and Brad now live in another village on the Hudson River which is the actual base of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow – none other than Sleepy Hollow, NY, with their beloved child-dog, Tucker – a Cava Tzu, which is a designer breed mix of Shih Tzu and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We remain hopeful that we can re-transplant Lisa with Brad and Tucker to Atlanta in the next few years!
