Terri's Story
My memories of BPHS are all positive. I had fun and because I was painfully shy I tried to be as outgoing as possible. I came out of it unscathed - after all, it was high school! I hope old friends remember me as being kind. I hope I was kind.
If I got one do-over it would be to BE in the present. I look back and see myself always looking to what was to come and I didn't get the full experience of living in the now.
The wildest thing (I was so wild!) I ever did was coming to a dance with Sylvia (Reyes) sophomore year and pretending like we had been partying before hand. And, uh, we hadn't.
My first job was at Toys R Us, where I got paid very little to be a cashier and shelf stocker. What I remember most about it is I had to say my name was Tina because Ruth (Aguilar?) had the name Terri because someone else had the name Ruth and so on... .
I got married in 1973, worked full-time and went to school part time while my husband went to school and worked full time. When he became a teacher, we started our family and moved to Santa Clarita. I went back to school and then opened a pre-school, which I owned for fifteen years. After that I worked in public education for ten years and when my daughter got married I started getting offers to plan and coordinate functions so I retired from the workforce to have fun!

born with a heart condition, has had many surgeries, starting at age 5, with the last one two and a half years ago and I've learned from her that courage, determination, love and faith can see you through most anything. My son, Chad, owns a clothing line and an appointment-only store in downtown L.A. and is very successful and from him I've learned that trusting your instincts and letting your creativity come to light is truly rewarding. My husband, Ron ( BPHS '71 also) who is a high school administrator wanted both our children to go to college, get a master's degree and then get a job. My son went to college for a few years and decided to go out on his own. I'm so happy he did!
I now divide my time between Santa Clarita and Huntington Beach. I live at the beach three days a week so I can take care of my grandsons Tyler and Ryan. We play at the beach, go to museums, zoos, take pre-school classes, etc. and it is definitely the best time of my life. When my husband, Ron retires, we plan on traveling, and hopefully taking the boys with us as much as we can. When I'm in Santa Clarita, I take my dogs on long walks, I meet friends for walks or lunch, Ron and I go to movies, have barbeques, lay around by the pool (it's hot here!) or ride his Harley Davidson! We've been to Tahoe, Mammoth, Yosemite, etc.! He and Chad and friends take a week or two every year for an extended ride!
That about sums up my life right now. It's become laid back and I really enjoy it.
