Terri's Story
My family moved to Ketchikan Alaska in 1969. I was just out of 7th grade so I have no highschool memories with anyone but often throughout the 40 years I wondered about different folks. Returned to Quincy in the fall of 1974...freshly graduated and pregnant. Thought I would try to make my life there as my heart has always been in that country but realized at some point I needed to go back to Alaska with family and have that baby so after much help from the Pauly family I headed north in November, 7months pregnant, hitchhiking via Lake Almanor back to Alaska with my malmute husky.
Been here in Alaska ever since....the child that was in my belly is now 34 yrs old. Added 2 more children 7 yrs later, they're now 29 and 25. Personally, I'm still about 21!!!
I love life....I love adventure and I must keep going forward because I've got to see what's around the corner.
Most of the 70,000 miles on my truck that I bought new in 1995 are dirt roads but I think I can honestly say I have more time running boats than vehicles. I've lived in waterworld for decades...on an island in a rainforest. If it's n...Expand for more
ot below me it's droppin' from the sky.
I sold my house in Ketchikan about 10 yrs ago, bought an acre of land in a remote community of about 50 people. No electricity, no roads, no easy lifestyle. Ordered my 7,000 bd ft of lumber we are entitled to as Alaskans and built a restaurant. I think it's been about 8 yrs now of building but I opened for Sunday Brunches last June and still serving up every Sunday. I'm afraid next summer I'm gonna be busier than heck. The second floor is an artist studio because no matter what career I choose....from the depths of my soul I am an artist. The 3rd floor is a greenhouse because I'm thinking I will be able to grow lettuce in the winter. It's not finished yet but everyday I try to do something that will further my endeaver. I think I'm driven....don't know how to relax very well.
Oh....and I have 1 beautiful, light up my life grandaughter who's 6 yrs old. Would you like to see the 100 pics in my wallet....HEHE!
That's about it....hope to make it down to Quincy for some sort of reunion. Funny cause I have no desire what so ever to go to a reunion here...
