Terri's Story

Life Hi all! Well, it sure seemed nearly impossible back in 1972, but, it's finally happened-we're all turning 50! I hope everyone is taking it well. It doesn't bother me a bit, but I know some people have a little trouble with it. I don't know how many of you are grandparents, but I'm the proud grandmother of the most gorgeous 2 year old boy in the world, Nathan. He is, in every way imaginable, an exact replica of his father, my wonderful son, Jason, 30. Nathan is smart, funny and, believe it or not, already learning how to skateboard. (Jason is, yes, even at 30, still an avid skateboarder. However, he is also a pharmacist with Walgreen's and a great father and husband, so I guess he's entitled to a little silliness!) Jason and his wife, Kim (her father's family is also from Reading-the Morgans), have been together since Jason was 16 and have been married 5 years. They reside in Deer Park. I was a single parent until I remarried in 1988 to David Langdon (second marriages for us both). We combined families (David also has a son, Jonathan). After both boys had left home, we did exactly the opposite of what most "empty nesters" do, we bought a bigger house, out in Blanchester. Sounds silly, but I had always wanted a big, old house and I finally got it-130 years old! I am having a great time remodeling the inside (by myself, I might add) and am, at long last, almost finished. Next-the outside! In addition to Nathan, we also have another wonderful addition to our lives, our sweet girl, Holly! She's only 3 years old and weighs 176 pounds! Have you guessed yet? She's a beautiful Harlequin Great Dane who has given us so much enjoyment. To give you an idea of just how big she is; her back almost comes up to my waist....Expand for more
(Of course, I'm only 5'2", but, still, she's pretty damn big!) I only have to bend my head down a little bit to kiss her on the head! My husband, bless his heart, apparently keeps a mental list of things I've mentioned I wanted over the years and, every so often, he suprises me with one of them. One was our home; another was Holly. I've had many hobbies, over the years, but my highest passion (and admitted obsession) lies in Decorative Painting. I teach this very diversified art form and it has enriched my life and enabled me to meet so many wonderful people along the way. I'm now preparing to open a studio in my home so teaching will be more convenient. Another "hobby" I enjoy is having friends over for dinner parties. I know most would not consider this a hobby, but, I love to cook big, fancy meals and I put so much thought and effort into them that I truly think of them as a "domestic art form". Not at all important, in the scheme of things; but, a lot of fun for all, just the same. David and I have some hobbies we do together such as "antiqueing" and fishing. Mostly, we fish for catfish or panfish. Sometimes, David fishes for muskie or walleye, but I usually don't go on those trips (too long and boring, for me). David will be able to retire next year (not sure yet if he will or not). If he does, we're talking about getting a pontoon boat so I can go along and paint while he fishes. We'll see! Well, I hope this hasn't been too boring of a "read". I realize that the person most interested in your own life story is yourself. Believe it or not, what I've written here are the most exciting parts of my life. Out of courtesy, I've left out all the REALLY boring stuff. Hope everyone is happy and well..........Terri
