Terry's Story
Aloha! I live in the land of waterfalls and rainbows with the Great Silverback. I apparently overcame my painful shyness and am now a captain flying commuter planes interisland parttime. I just got a job flying as a contract pilot in Afghanistan. I retired from the military in 2003 after 24+ years. I was an air traffic controller, a supply officer and lastly a helicopter pilot. I enjoy my new 9'6" Meyerhoffer surfboard and 12.0' tandem. I surf southshore Oahu (Senior Citizen waves). I enjoy sailing the 28' sailboat at Kaneohe Bay, to the Sandbar! Just sold my 33' wooden classic cutter. I also enjoy flying small Cessnas North Shore Moloka'i, over Coconut Island on Oahu and back through the Pali and down to the Honolulu International Airport. I have three crazy kids, all residing in Riverside-no grandkids yet. Divorced after 17+ years, but now am living the good life, after kids. I recently had a "bonding" adventure with my brother John Beasley who is an emergency room nurse here on Oahu. We took the brand new Super Ferry to Maui with...Expand for more
his brother-in-law and their Harleys. I rented a very large Harley (they were out of Sportsters) on Maui. You really haven't lived until you've ridden a Hawg to Hana!! Sixty-four switchbacks! Since I took all those cool woodshop classes with Mr. Ramsey at Ramona, I love making things from wood. I'm now working on my 10.0' traditional redwood surfboard. I made an 8.0' with a 3.5" rocker from white-washed pine 2x4's! I also threw four redwood 2x4's in there, for such a classy look. It was 38 lbs before I glassed it; 45 lbs after. I also hollowed it out before gluing the planks together. I took it out four times before I could even stand on it. I eventually figured it out (after warning everyone down wave) and surfed about ten times before selling it for $500! My 10.0' has a 7.5" rocker with 34 planks. We adopted two dogs from the Hawai'i Dog Foundation. An Air Force couple found them in a cave by Waianae when they were five months old. I take them on the stand-up. A Border-Collie mix and a super-sized Jack Russell. That is all for now.
