Terry's Story
I'm currently in Afghanistan, working for a company called DynCorp,Intl. We are contracted to Navistar Defense,(the International Truck people). Navistar builds the MaxPro MRAP.
"Mine Resistant Ambush Protected" vehicle. I have been in Iraq since Jan/08. My daughter Melissa lives in Phoenix and has a girl and boy of her own. My son Michael, has a house in Cottage Grove and I dont think I can live long enough for him to settle down and give me more grandkids. HA!
I made it to Afghanistan 22Jan09. I am currently in the Bagram area, surrounded by the Himalayan and Hindu Kush mountains. It is quite a site for a flat lander from Minnesota. I get the opportunity to fly to other camps to check up on our MRAP's. The last camp I was at, was 8500 ft above sea level.

Summer in Afghan:
It reached the low 100's today for the first time. At this elevation ,it is not a bad heat at all. By sunset is is quite pleasant. By morning, it is actually cool. The time is flying buy, my end of contract is in Sept. The good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I'll pass my physical and come back for another year or two. I fly almost weekly from camp to camp to work with our trucks and the soldiers tasked to keep them going. Too bad they don't give frequent flyer miles for blackhawks. Working with the soldiers on a daily basis is what will keep me coming back. We have the greatest military in th...Expand for more
e world and it's all because of the soldiers. I'll update later in the summer.
Say a prayer for the troops!

Happy Upcoming 4th of July to All.
Still in Bagram, Afghanistan, things are getting a little warm over here in more ways than one. My 5th rotation of Airmen are heading home at the end of the month. It has been special working with them as many of them are from MN and ND. Again Happy 4th of July to All and remember to take a minute to remember the troops over the 4th. Freedom isn't Free rings very true over here.

I'm 2 months into my third year with the company I am with now. I have been in Iraq and Afghanistan for 34 ot the last 36 months. I am still in Bagram, Afghanistan. The camp has changed drasticaly, we are like a not so small city. We have over 6000 soldiers and civilians here on any given day. St, Paul Park where I was born and raised, only had 5000 people when I lived there. The war effort has grown drasticaly. My kids are doing OK, considering the economy and all. My sone Michael and his significant other are going to make me grandpa again in May. I never thought I would see that day. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas to All
