Terry's Story

Life Hi! Well... it's me Terry. I hope some of you will read this and contact me. Humm? Where do I begin? After High School I took off to Oregon to go to a two year Christian College called Icthus. I studied the bible, grew in the Lord and came back to good old Cali 2 and half years later. Pretty much from the age of 21 to 28 I held a job at St. Mary's and continued ministering in the churches I attended here in the desert. I taught bible studies and led worship. I accepted Christ in 11th grade and he has been my very best friend even to this day. At 28 I married Joseph and we have just passed our 20th anniversary. At that time I inherited his two sons, Noah who is now 29 and Israel who is 27. Israel just had a son by his fiance in January and we named him Isaac Joseph Atkins. So now I am a grand mother of two. Brianna is 10 years old and she is the daughter of my son Noah. I say sons instead of step-sons because we have been through a lot and are still going through a lot and we are very tight. They truly are a part of me. I became pregnant right away with David so my plate was really full. I decided to not work for the first five years of his life. Yes, financially it was difficult but the rewards for all the children paid off. Eventually I started back up in the job market and held variuos part-time positions until I was hired on 9 years ago at the Lewis Center also known as the Academy for Academic Excellence. I started as their main reception...Expand for more
ist and then moved into another department that deals in the area of hands on science and astronomy. Yes I love Sci-Fi and the imagination it can bring...but I must say real science is a bit over my head! I do enjoy my co-workers and my job. I work full-time and juggling a family, work and all the hats each one of us must wear has been a struggle for me. It does make my life full and causes me to always seek out the wisdom and help of my saviour. I have had some sorrow and pain in my life and wonder sometimes if I am a lot different then what I could or should have been. Some of it affected me negatively but most of it has made me a much kinder, loving and grateful person. We all go through struggles and as far as what I've been through I wouldn't change it for the world or anything. I still love to laugh, dance up a storm, smell the roses and just simply get a kick out of life. Joe and I purchased a nice home in Apple Valley but we intend to sell it in a few years and head over to Corpus Chrisit Texas. My man wants to retire over there and we have checked it out and I do like it too. We are thinking of opening a wine shop that also caters to the arts such as poetry and book discussions. Well one thing I know is that you never know where life will lead you even when plans are made... so my motto for now is..one day at a time sweet Jesus! I hope you have enjoyed this small synopsis of my normal, ordinary, wonderful life! Always smiling! Terry
