Terry's Story
Life
It's almost 10 years now since I retired from teaching and it's a great life. My wife, Colleen, and I just celebrated our 14th anniversary last June (2011). In 2007, we traveled to England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland with my mother, my sister, Debbie, and Debbie's childhood friend. I am part of a professional theater production, "And on the Eighth Day," a new look at the Scopes Trial in which I originated the part of Clarence Darrow. In 2008 I played the title role in Lois Lowry's "The Giver." Lowry attended the performances--a remarkable lady. I continue to write a bi-monthly column, "Learning Curve," for our local paper, The Kenosha News. For the past six years, I have been a practicing Celebrant, a lay person who plans and conducts funeral services. I received my certification through Oklahoma University. The work is very rewarding, as it allows me to help people through a traumatic time, and it gives me the opportunity to be creative. I am a six year survivor of ...Expand for more
prostate cancer, and I urge my former male classmates to get a yearly PSA test. That test saved my life. All-in-all, I feel very blessed to be at such a rewarding time in my life.
I remember all three high schools it was my fortune to attend, but my fondest memories are of Janesville High School. I would welcome any communication from old friends.
Our beloved keeshond, Shadow, had to be put down on September 12, 2008. About two weeks before then, we brought Reggie, also a keeshond, into our family. He is an absolute delight and has helped ease the pain of Shadow's passing.
My book, "Learning Curve: Seeking Common Sense in Education," was published on March 12, 2010. It can be ordered through Amazon and Barnes & Noble or go to lawlercurve.com.
My renewable energy company, MY-N-ERGY (my-n-ergy.com) put up its first wing turbine on May 1, 2010. Our first 20Kw tower will go up in a few weeks on a 120 ft. tower of our own design. Please check out our site.
