Terry's Story
Life
My wife (Vickie Beard class of 70) and I left the desert in 1981 and moved to Oklahoma.
Before we left I was a reserve Deputy for San Bernardino CO SO. Victorville station. That started my interest in Law Enforcement. This I loved doing and am thankful for that start.
Several Families from the desert moved to Oklahoma over the course of several years. We all live in the same town and keep in touch. Several of the Harris's from Harris Transportation, Some of the West's from West pipe and supply. Many others also moved. We were in a tornado in 1982. They are far worse than earthquakes. I went to work for the Ada Police Dept in 1984. In 1990 I opened a computer store. I was injured in 1993 and had to retire from the Police Dept. Oct. of 94, the job I loved the most and miss the most. I still have the computer store. Vickie works at the local hospital. She is the office manager in Radiology. Both my daughters graduated here but have moved to Texas. 2 of my grandchildren were born in Ada. Now I am looking forward to retirement. Life is much slower in Oklahoma. It gets hot in the summer and co...Expand for more
ld in the winter. Wages are low but houses are cheap.
We both have friends and family in the desert and get back when we can. I really miss Ventura. I finished the last semester of my senior year of High School in Ventura.
After having my computer store for 19 years, I accepted a position at our local hospital as the Director of Security (2006). I will still keep my store open as long as it is profitable.
We went to Israel (July 2007). It was a fantastic trip. Our youngest daughter moved back to Ada last year and is getting ready to go back to school. Our oldest is finishing her PHD ar Rice University. Vickie and I have a great life. We get to travel. We have fantastic daughters. My parents live 3 blocks from us and are in great health. Vickie's Mom still lives in Hesperia. I am looking forward to a 40 year reunion. 2009, Our youngest daughter moved to Houston to live with her sister and help her sister finish up her PHD at Rice University. Everything is going great I am looking forward to Las Vegas in October.
Pretty much retired now. Life is great. Need to spend more time in Hawaii Dec 2011
