Gregg's Story

Life I spent two years at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY) on a Navy ROTC scholarship, but decided that I didn't want to do this for a living (mistake). I completed my Bachelor's degree at the SUNY College of Technology that was located in Utica at the time. I probably spent way too many of my hours between classes taking the free brewery tour at the West End Brewing Company ... I literly knew the tour better than most of the tour guides ... surprizingly 20 years later I probably remember more of it than I ought to. After graduating I worked briefly for Hamilton Digital Controls in Utica and then took an Engineering Position with Rome Cable in Rome. I worked for them in Rome from 1984 to 1986 and was then promoted and transferred to their plant in West Jordan, Utah. Beautiful place to live and awesome snow skiing. After about 9 months they sold this plant to Southwire Company and I opted to stay on with the new owners rather than returning to Rome. In 1990 I was "recruited" to go to work for General Cable in Kingman, AZ. After working for General for about 11-1/2 years this plant was purchased by Southwire and I was really glad I hadn't burned any bridges when I left Southwire the first time. Kingman is small town of about 25,000 located in NW Arizona about a 2 hour drive South-East from Las Vegas, or 2-1/2 hours West from Flagstaff, or 3-1/2 hours North-West of Phoenix. It's about 35 miles East of Laughlin, NV. I live about 7 miles north of town in a small sub-d...Expand for more
ivision in the foothills of the Cerbat Mountains. I still enjoy shooting and have a 300 yard practice range about 1-1/2 miles from my house on BLM land. My current passion is for WW-2 vintage military rifles, many of which have been available on the surplus market at really reasonable prices. I enjoy 4-wheeling to alot of the old mining sites in the area, beach camping on Lake Mohave and Lake Mead ... There's even a place called "Gregg's Hideout" but it wasn't named for me. I'm active with my Church and lead a youth program there called "Royal Rangers". It's pretty cool taking them hiking, camping, rock-hounding and teaching them about Jesus. Who would have figured huh? I've been married/divorced twice but don't have any kids. I don't think I'm that hard to get along with, but I'm sure my Ex's would tell you otherwise. I haven't given up on finding the love of my life but I haven't really been seeking her out all that hard either. I have a patented silver mining claim I purchased awhile back up in the Cerbat Mountains. It is surrounded by thousands of acres of Federal land and has some fantastic views. I hope to build a small cabin on it this fall/winter when it isn't so stinkin' hot. Kind of a seclude, rustic little weekend retreat. Otherwise I stay busy with working on several old cars I've picked up. 1952 Dodge Powerwagon, 1962 Ford Falcon, 1966 Ford Ranchero, 1966 Dodge Dart, 1967 Chevy Malibu, 1972 Ford Ranchero. Well, guess that's enough for now C-Ya! Gregg
