Theodore's Story
One of my first jobs, was working at Dinuba High School Library, where I got paid $50.00 a month to check out books. What I remember most about it is The Dewey Decimal System. I worked in the library for 3 years. I spent my earnings on Musical instruments and records to help with our band, "Holy Smoke." During our Junior Year, 1968, we performed at Dances like the Memorial Building in Dinuba. I guess we will be remembered by the untimely death of our Manager, Tim Oh, Lead singer, Ralph Nelson & Jimmy Gomez, my equipment handler. They were killed by a drunk driver in 1976 near Orange Cove. I would have been with them except I had to take my daughter to the carnival on the Friday night, before Raison Day. I still have the recordings of our band that I made while we played from our dances. The song, "Time has Come Today," is best remembered as our theme song. I really never played again until 2006 when I purchased my 2006 Martin acoustic guitar. I've been trying to play Beatle songs that I can try to do along with contempary songs I like.
After high school, I went to Reedley College for 1/2 semester because I got drafted into the US Army. I spent 8 months in Vietnam and then I went to UC Santa Cruz after I got out of the service. I wanted to stay in Dinuba because I like it here. I worked at making Mobile Homes from 1975 until 1980. I got a job at the Ivory Pine(SFI; Wickes or Dinuba Timber Industries) a sawmill that I thought I would retire from. I retired fr...Expand for more
om the sawmill in 1994.
My wife is deceased. She died from breast cancer in 1998. I have 4 grown children, the youngest at 25 years old. Two daughters,a son & another daughter who all live away from me. I live alone now. I , also, have 5 grandchildren.
I enjoyed my life so far, I plan on trying to see if I would be able to get a part-time job or something to keep me occupied with my time. Oh! well, That's about all I can write at this time. Take Care and may God bless. Teddy.
I always wanted to be a scientist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a unsuitable idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. Today, 2009, I have alot of time to think about what I want to do with the rest of my life. I enjoy reading about our solar system and the cosmos. I did take several classes while I attended UC Santa Cruz that helped me gain my interest in Astronomy. I have used my computer to scan the heavens with the galaxy zoo website as I wonder what it would be like to be an Astrophysicist. I try and wonder what it would be like to think with idea of the mind of God as I discover how vast the universe really is. I periodoxially read the newpapers to see if there are articles I'm interested in too. Anyway, This is how I spend my spare time as I since retired.
I do have other hobbys too. I enjoy trying to learn how to play Beatle songs for my own personal enjoyment. I just started to learn this only since 2006 when I bought my Martin 2006 guitar
