Theresa's Story
When I graduated WI back in 1972, I went to Dowling College in Oakdale. I earned my Bachelor's Degree for teaching English. (However, teaching jobs were scarce those days and I didn't get a job.) I went into another field of Inventory Control. I got married in 1976 and had two boys. While my boys were pre-school age, I returned to Dowling College for my Masters in Reading. I lived in West Islip until 1988, when I moved to Manorville on Eastern Long Island. I then got a job as a Reading Teacher (now called a Literacy Specialist) in the school district that I lived in. However, in 2001, after 25 years of marriage, I got divorced. Then two years later, I met a wonderful guy and we got married in 2005. list for 29 years and retired June 2017.
I have lots of creative hobbies. I love to write and have had several things published. I also enjoy photography and traveling, especially to the western part of the US. I dabble in One-Stroke painting, scrapbooking, sewing, and gardening. I am an avid country music fan and country dancer. My idol has always been John Denver. One of my goals is to master playing the guitar. My husband and I are in to hiking and camping.
I consider myself to be a very organized person, sometimes to a fault. My strong will and faith has gotten me through some difficult times and I am a better person for it. My favorite quote is from a Garth Brooks song, "I could have missed the pain, but I would have missed the dance." And, then from Lee Ann Womack, "I hope you dance!"
