Theresa's Story

My story? Yawnsville I'd say. Started working Cleveland Clinic Pharmacy since 1981 and left in 1999...saw the whole pharmacy technician thing evolve. Married since 1989. I have three kids born 1991, 1994 and 1995. My daughter is the middle rugrat. My youngest son was diagnosed with autism at age 2.5 and I've been an advocate ever since. Waited til I got older to finally pursue a communications degree at Baldwin-Wallace...got three years done and 2 certifications..one in Organizational Development, the other in Human Resources. Got involved in local politics, ran for school board twice in Maple...and what a run it was! My life has always been backward, but I'm still a goofball with a lil extra cush, gray hair and I STILL have teenage acne!!! What the!? Any of ya'll a dentist or dermatolgist who will hook an ol' pal up? I'm heading over to change.gov to pester the new administration about health care coverage, discrimatory job application processes and matters concerning people with disabilities. I still take the bull by the horns. check out autismspeaks on the web. Godspeed to all! Ephesians 6: 10-18 The "story wizard" classmates designed: How do I blow off steam? Well, once upon a time when I didn't realize I needed to stop cursing... I always wanted to be a mover and a shaker when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a NUTT idea. As it turns out, they were nutz themselves. Now that I have grown up quite a bit and only matured over the last ten years, I walk a pretty good pace, and get myself to The Word for a word of proper motivation to refrain from regressing to my cussin' days. ;) The wildest thing I did in high school? uh..hmmm, er ah...was I wild? I don't think I was wild. I know I wasn't. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have some level of autonomy, good team of people to work with, and a supervisor who respects people to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Do I have a hero? Not just one. My mom because she beat her addiction and got her degree ten years before she died of cancer. She had a newfound determination and was able to focus on goals like I had never known and didn't learn myself until late in life. I have several other heroes alive and dead who have changed history...some you don't know who make a difference in the lives of people everyday. My youngest son, Nate is a hero. He has autism and a heart of pure gold. I only wish everbody could truly know l...Expand for more
ove unconditional as my baby boy does. My other hero, I've recently come to appreciate? Jesus Christ! When have you ever believed in anything enough to die for it? hmmm, that too is a problem for black folks today...we aren't excited about anything other than a new pair of shoes and a brand-name-something. Where have I lived? Just here in Ohio. I regret never moving from here, but I've traveled a small bit. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Hubert Brown, because he was special to me and everybody in my family loved him. He went to Collinwood though. I have no obsessions other than pasta. The teacher I would like to see most? I'd love to see Mrs. Newton again. She died though, but she was at my house on my 30th birthday thanx to my little brother. I'd like to see Mr. Riley b/c he was cool and I didn't realize he knew me as well as he did until he signed my memory book. Mrs. Diskant because I never thanked her for allowing me to go to the prom. Mr. West because he was fine as heck and he encouraged me to study English and bragged about a paper I wrote and used it as an example to other students at Cleveland State! Mr. Grey, the ultimate smooth and dapper brother and Mr. French for introducing me to the art and love of writing poetry. If I won $100 million, I'd give a portion of it to my church, then spend the rest on Disney World, Australia and investments. ...no I never lived in a dorm...another regret, but I still would not have joined a sorority. I would have done something political instead or found a way around hazing and made myself the HNIC! LOL! To be truly happy? At this juncture in life, I'd be happy with a life insurance policy that would leave every single neice and nephew in my family wealthy when I croak. Do I still dress like I did 20 years ago? uhhh...noooo! I haven't changed much though. I don't step out in full makeup and up-do, I like my jeans and tennis shoes still...but I do know how to clean up nicely in fashion. Every lady needs sheer black stockings, a sexy dress in any flattering color and heels to strut in. Trophies on my mantel? Bowling. Got two trophies for speech competitions. My one do-over in life? Fisk University. What would surprise everyone at the high school reunion? Let's see. How about having one! I need a team of people to get it done! I do not want to do a "click-club" reunion. If it's going to be done right, I need help.
