Theresa's Story

Life I have been a stockbroker, venture capitalist, teacher, entrepreneur, and business owner. I've been married twice and divorced twice producing no children. In 2002 I was diagnosed with diabetes and I nearly lost my left leg due to complications. But with proper diet and exercise I am in very good health. On September 13th, 2006 I had major back surgery in Petoskey. I had two fusions and two lumbar decompressions. My Dad had the same operation when he was in his 80's. Both Mom and Dad are gone and I never hear from my stepbrother. I have always been resilient and I never give up no matter what happens. I'm starting over with a new lease on life. I now reside in beautiful Northern Michigan in Onekama with my two cats Otto and Olivia. My dog Kelley died in February of 2011. I miss her a great deal. We live one block from Portage Lake and two miles from Lake Michigan. On Sundays at 10:00 am I play flute at St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort, MI. Being a lector, Eucharistic Minister, along with playing my flute, has added a spiritual element to my life. I also am involved in the Benzie Community Band and the Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra as Operations Manager and Principal Flute. I was involved in a pit orchestra in Manistee at the Ramsdell Theater for the musical "Music Man". I have always remained optimistic about life and why things happen. There is always a good reason for what life has in store for you. I've learned to accept but still question. As of August 1, 2007, I was approved for Social Security Disability because of my back condition and diabetes. I teach flute and music theory along with various money making projects. I have been diligently getting my life together working on my health and body to get in the best possible shape. Hey its no fun getting old. Everything starts falling apart after 50. What's the deal? LOL In February of 2013 I bought a 1994 White Lexus. She is a beauty. I always have had a fascination with cars. I once owned a BMW Z3 and 1982 C...Expand for more
orvette. Ahhh...those were the days! After five years and diligently saving money, I have purchased a new professional flute. It sounds more like a sports car then a flute. It's a Jupiter di Medici 1311 RSO model and she plays beautifully. I have played her publicly and she is the best sounding flute I have ever owned. I am playing "Concerts in the Park" series in the summer. Drop me a line and I will send you a schedule. On November 3rd of 2013, a year after having had a right hip replacement, I developed cellulitis below the incision of the right hip. I was very close to sepsis and blood poisoning and Doctor said I was a day from meeting my Maker. I had two emergency surgeries in Manistee and was in the hospital for eight days. I finished six weeks of daily IV antibiotic infusions through a PICC in my right arm and also six weeks of oral antibiotics. I finally came off the antibiotics on February 4th of 2014. That's four months being on antibiotics and trying to restore my body back to some semblance of good health. I am currently seeing an Infectious Disease Doctor in Traverse City. My medical team is trying to stop the infection so I won't have to have the entire right hip replacement removed. If that happens I would have a stabilizer put in and I would be in a body cast for twelve weeks and then I would have the right hip replacement done again. Infections can be very difficult. I have so much compassion for people who have medical problems. I also admire people who are healthy and utilize their health to enjoy life. One of my best friends was just here and she is off to go skiing for the day. What fun! I would love to hear from you. If you have time, drop me a note. Take a chance...I am more outgoing then I ever have been. Take care my friends. It is so nice to see a lot of you on Facebook. Just found out that Mr. Richard Dunn passed away in Texas. I really liked and admired him. Love to all of you and I wish you happiness, good health, and especially love.
