Thomas's Story

I have led a very traditional lifestyle. After graduating from Edison in 1966 I attended the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis campus. I started out in IT thinking that I wanted to be a chemical engineer. But after four years I graduated with a BA in Economics. The day I got my diploma in the mail I also got my induction notice. So I spent the next 19 months in the Army. I spent the last six months in Vietnam as an infantryman. I came back unharmed and I didn't harm anyone while I was there. So it all worked out OK. Then I went back to the U of M (on Uncle Sa...Expand for more
m's dime) to study accounting and business. I even transferred to an MBA program but never finished because I went to work for a regional CPA firm in Iowa before completing required papers. In 1975 I married a young woman named Judy and in 1978 we moved into a home in Columbia Heights, MN were we have lived ever since. I became a licensed CPA in 1978 and have worked in both public accounting and as a corporate controller. Judy is still working but did have a stretch years ago as a stay-at-home mom while raising our four children-all of whom are now young adults.
