Thomas's Story
Life
After Morningside High, I went to USC and graduated from the business school. While at USC I met my first wife and married just before I graduated in 1971. Unfortunately, it only lasted three years.
In 1972, while the rocky marriage was was going on, I was introduced to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior. It totally changed my life and I could not have survived all my work and life changes without Him. It's going on 38 years since that encounter and even though the road is tough, I know God is in control and I can make it.
My first real job was at Getty Oil company where I was an Internal Auditor. My career path from there has been rather eclectic and I have had the opportunity to work in companies from manufacturing to retail.
I also studied Recording Engineering and worked for about 10 years in the entertainment business doing recording, sound design and producing CD rom education and entertainment content.
I started a global world class high end limousine business in 2002 and had it until July 31, 2006. My business partner and I had some disagreements and we liquidated the company. So, on to other things.
I am currently a full time investor in real estate, stocks & options, and businesses. The market however has recently dictated I go back to the corporate world to replace the loss of many of my investments. So, the job search is on.
In 2006 I was also diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and received aggressive treatment for a full year. I am now "cancer free" and monitoring the situation.
Currently, I am a Business Consultant helping businesses to be more profitable. My gig right now is with a ...Expand for more
global manufacturing company that makes rubber mats for large equipment in farming and construction. I have helped increase revenue, cut expenses and now starting to take over the China supply chain. Going to China soon for my second time. Ultimately I visited China four times. I joined the company as a full-time employee in 2013 and was laid off Jan 6, 2017. Job searching again.
In July 2017 I was introduced to Fish Window Cleaning as a Franchise Opportunity. There was an existing Franchise in the South Bay area that was for sale and after doing my due diligence bought the Franchise. We closed escrow July 2018 and I have been running and building the business. It is a great change and I never expected at 70 to be doing this but it is really a great opportunity. Unfortunately I do not have enough resources to pack it in so this is God's blessing to provide income.
I still live in the area in Westchester, CA and have been married for 45 years to my second wife Dorothy. No kids from our marriage but Dorothy has a son from her first marriage who lives in Las Vegas with his wife and son (I'm a Grandpa!). Dotty's grandson and his girlfriend just had a baby so no we are Great Grandparents.. We also have a great dog (Dachshund,/Beagle combination named Phoebe. She is was a rescue and is 10 years old but is really a great addition to our family.
Over the years I have kept in touch with some of you and it has been great. I look forward to continuing that and I hope to increase the connections.
Would love to hear from you. It was great seeing a number of you at our 50th Reunion and 70th Birthday Party. Hope we can have more group events.
